What do ya'll think about the news story about Will Smith saying that Hitler was a "good person" He claims that the quotes were cropped and he was misquoted. I tend to believe him as he has a good reputation and he is the one rapper that has clean lyrics. So what is your opinion, should we boycott Will Smith?

I thought it was Will Smith the actor who said that, and as the press does, it seems the remark was taken out of context.
I think we have to believe it the way Will Smith says it happens, face it the press' job is to sell news and if they eliminate words or sentences and say things out of context, it works for them, not for the author or the remark.

I had no idea any of this was happening. I had to look up a few different news sources to get a consensus on what Will Smith actually said. I can see why people would get upset, because it's easy to misinterpret. But, from what I can see, he never said Hitler was good. Or that anything Hitler did was good. He said *Hitler* didn't think he was doing anything wrong. The thing is, the most evil acts can be committed by people who don't think they're doing anything wrong. That doesn't absolve them of their crimes. Some people have complete belief in the rightness of their actions. It's possible to acknowledge that, and to condemn those actions. It sounds like Will Smith did the first -stated that Hitler probably believed what he did was right. And, then, when that was interpreted as *Will Smith* believing that it made Hitler a good person, he went on to the second -regardless of what *Hitler* believed, what he actually *did* was one of the most heinous crimes of history.
I'd like to know how the subject came up in the first place. But, I fail to see how the words that have been quoted add up to "Hitler was a good person" or even "Hitler wasn't that bad." Because I don't see that anywhere. The closest I see to that definition is him saying no one wakes up saying, "how can I be evil today." Again, saying that doesn't mean you aren't aware that some people are evil and do evil things.

How I saw it was it was on the fox news network. A Scottish paper printed that Will Smith said Hitler was a good person. Fox news also reported that Will Smith said he had been misquoted and reported what he had first said. And I think you are right. Just because we can see how a person could do something doesn't mean we don't believe they were wrong and did horrible acts.

Geez, I think they probably took it out of context and skewed it around to sell more issues. I can't see a reputable newspaper making this kind of claim without proof, it sounds like a tactic that the Enquirer, (or one of those kind of magazines) would publish. It seems we have to take things like that with a grain of salt, so much of it is NOT true. Maybe like many other hollywood stars who have been misquoted and slandered, he might sue them to set the record straight. I, for one, don't believe Will Smith is that type of person. I won't boycott him until the true facts have come out from someplace reputable. This appears to be one of those stories that is just out for sensationalism.

I believe will. He is a honest person and I like how his rap is clean. He's got a good point how people like Hitler are raised that way in thats they way they are. I teach my son little things like when eating princles chips to eat the whole chip and not to let chip crumbs fall on the ground. He's 3 yrs and It took me a week to teach him that, and now when he eats a chip he eats it all and don't drop big crumbs. This is just a example how people can teach their kids little things that others would not think of training them, and these little things are what mold them to who they will be when their become adults.

You put me to work on this one, Aurone, because I simply had heard nothing about this controversy. From all reports, what Will Smith said could in no way be interpreted as meaning that Hitler was a good person. I do wish that people would cease putting their own slant on every word spoken by someone else.
