i have lecturers who just read off the powerpoint notes that they made....and they post that on the internet for us to access it...so is it worth going to lectures when we can just get the notes?

I think you should always go to class regardless of whether or not you think your going to learn something. Your paying for it anyway you mine as well get the most for your money Heres a real life example that happened to me that proves why you should always go. It was the day before thanksgiving break and hardly anyone came to my brain+behavior class. So my professor, being sneaky, gave us the easiest pop quiz ever: Who is your favorite professor? What does this class study? and other obvious questions like that...those of us who were there got extra points and i ended up with an A

Most of the people who have responded to this discussion have suggested you to skip the lectures!!!! Well I won't!!! As far as I think I belive it is not possible that all of the lecturers do the same thing that is read from the slides!!!!...there has to some differences!!! also even if they do!!! it is not acceptable to me that they read exactly what is written in the slides and have no extra or different to say about the topic!!!! Even If we accept both of these things still going to the class to attend the lectures not only ensures your attendance ( I think your institute does have a minimum attendence requirement too!!!ain't it )plus hearing the lectures attentively will store some of the info into your mind and then when you check them out later...it is easier to understand and learn!!! secondly what you can do is go and talk to your teacher or any one resoponsible in the college and I hope things will get better

As long as you can learn the information that lecture gives you in another way and you won't fail your course by not attending the lectures it should be ok not going. It will probably depend on your course, to if its comulsory to go to all the lectures. ~Joeys wife

If the classes are not interactive then no discussion is happening in the subject, so better not to go. But you have to spend your time in the library to get to know the subject indepth. happy learning

It is my opinion that if you go to a lecture, that is going to teach you nothing- then do not go at all. Who wants to waste 2-4 hours of ones time, being taught something that they already know. The only thing that could possibly from going to a lecture would be the building of relationships and networking.

If they add nothing to the notes they have already posted in the lectures then I say skip. Just make sure not to miss tests.

I had a class like that. I skipped all lectures. and (until I withdrew from the class 3/4 of the way in), I had an A- average. Just skip them if they teach you nothing. You could spend that time doing homework.
