Grandmother's Money Saving Tip Of The Day

Here is my money saving tip for the day. It's nothing new but I thought we could share tips with each other. If you have a Tip Of The Day for anything, saving money, cooking, cleaning, parenting or anything else, let's hear it. Here's my tip of the day. I cleaned out my refrigerator today. I had a few leftovers and was wondering how I could use them or disguise them in another meal. I threw everything into a soup pot, added a little chicken stock and a few extra vegetables to make a rich, hearty stew. It will be especially good tonight since the weather is cold and windy. I'm serving it with crackers and a nice cup of cocoa. What's your tip of the day?

That's a great idea, I have to clean out my fridge badly so that might work for me too. My money saving tip: Buy juice in frozen concentrate instead of in a gallon and you can save $2-$3 per gallon plus you save the energy used to bottle in at the plant and the container that would go to a landfill and the pollutants that are released into the air when the plastic is made.

Funny you should say that gmakesmoney. I just figured that one out. We always bought orange juice in the gallon container until recently. I bought frozen orange juice the last time and realized I COULD save a lot! From now on, it's frozen concentrate for me. No one will believe this, but it actually tastes better too... It's all about savings now. Thanks for you tip of the day.

Yummy stew sounds good today. It is rainy and cold here. I'm making bean soup from the ham bones left from the Christmas ham. I always boil my bones from chickens, turkey and ham to make soup and stretch the budget.

Hi lightning! Thanks for your idea. We're always trying to find ways to streeetch the budget. I save the bones too. It makes great stock for soups. Then again, I don't throw anything away these days. Bean soup is the bomb. Great for lowering cholesterol too. We had homemade Hot and Sour Soup a few days ago. That was interesting and delicious.

Hello! Yes, we can share some tips. Thanks for yours, by the way. My tip is: to raise the chances of getting responses to your discussions, it's really important that you have a lot of friends. The more friends you have, the more responses you'll get. Here stays my tip!
