I have been seeing promos for JAy LEno and Connan to be all new on Janurary 2nd. Does that mean that the strike is over? Why aren't the other channels going to have new episodes? I am lost does anyone know what is going on? I mean I understand why they are striking but I want my shows back, the hoildays are bout over so I am ready to get back to my life.

According to http://blog.meevee.com/my_weblog/writers_strike/index.html?CMP=KNC-brand the late night hosts are crossing the picket lines. but they will not violate the strike agreement, so it will be mainly musical interviews and improvisation. I do hope the strike is over because aside from cooking and home repairs, etc. I HATE REALITY SHOWS! It looks as if the Tv season is going kerplunk. We will probably have to catch up on our old shows. Looks like bad news.

I agree in a way as I do love some reality shows, but you are so right it is looking like a not so hot season, which is going to hurt other not in the entertainment buisness as well.

Well now House is back and now I do not have to watch shows like Big Brother. Even though House is not a very nice guy, at least he is honest and he does save people's lives, not want to be the last one remaining in a house or on some stupid island. Trouble is with the strike, some of the shows are not going to last the whole six seasons, so they are cutting them down.

I just had to weigh in here and echo you - I HATE REALITY SHOWS TOO!!! What worries me is that there will be more new ones that will be huge hits and since they're so cheap to produce we'll be overrun with even more of them even once the strike is settled and they'll cancel some of the good shows because they cost too much to make. My daughter and granddaughter love some of those reality shows and I'm always teasing them about it, asking them what's wrong with them. Annie

The strike is still on. Several production companies have crossed the picket lines and have offered their writers a compromise of sorts. Bear in mind that the only ones who have struck any kind of deal are the late-night TV shows who aren't looking at a heavy DVD market. You can download "episodes" of The Tonight Show on iTunes and through a few other outlets but for the most part they're not going to be the money-makers that shows like 24 or Lost will ultimately be. Because of this, several companies have managed to convince their writers to come back to work under certain compensory conditions.

Wow I am totally in the dark - I need to visit myLot more often to keep up with the news. I didn't know there was a writters stick but guess unknowingly I've been supporting them and not writing (ok not by choice just busy with other things). What were they stricking for?

No, the strike is still going on. I read an article with Carson Dally that told him that he had to report to work or 175 people were going to lose their jobs.

As everyone else has said the strike is still on. The thing is that some of these people are just going on without the strike. IF you think about it, Jay Leno and Conan and all of those talk show hosts ARE writers and comedians. They just don't write for themselves anymore. So they're going to be their own writers for a while. The strke could go on for a while. You never know. some people just want to keep going back to work.
