I'd Be Interested In Your Thoughts On Keeping The Environment Safe and Green....

Green Man - The Green Man...

I was cleaning my flat just before Christmas, when I noticed how dull the TV looked. I normally just dust the set, and wipe over the screen, but this once, I took a white tissue, and just wiped it across the screen because it was so dull-looking, then I looked at the tissue... it was BLACK, and that was just a single wipe. I tried to figure out what it was, and the thought came to me that in the summer months, when I have my windows open, the net curtains become black around the area where the window opens. So... I came to the conclusion that there are an excessive amount of carbon particles in the air, due to the huge amount of road and air traffic close to my home. If this is the case, we are breathing in huge amounts of carbon emissions every time we step outside, and are not even safe indoors if we feel the need to open the window. The air is no longer fresh. Later, my neighbour called round. I made her coffee and we sat and chatted for a couple of hours. I mentioned the black deposit to her, and she agreed that what with the aeroplanes coming over top of us to and from the airport, the buses, lorries and cars up and down the motorway, this was probably carbon particles. We didn't stop there, either... we got on to Concorde and why it was taken out of service. Now, I know it was expensive to run, but it had plenty of paying passengers, and I also know that there were problems with certain parts of it, but... I feel we're not always told everything by our dear, sweet governments, and we came to discussing the hole in the ozone layer, and how it possibly was caused by craft like Concorde, and the rockets which we send into space, to a far bigger extent than things like aerosols, and the like. We also felt that the carbon deposits were probably more harmful than smoke from a cigarette, and that the governments are just trying to cover up what they know to be true. I'm not condoning anything else which is proven to be harmful to us and our Planet, but if we have to give up certain things, or put extra effort into making the Planet greener, then why do it by half, rather than go the whole hog? Why don't they stop wars, rockets and other things which seem to me to be much more harmful? And if we are so hell-bent on protecting our children from pollution, in an effort to give them a longer, healthier life... why do we send them to fight wars? I don't wish to be controversial about this, and I hope I don't offend anybody, but I wondered how you would structure things to help the environment. I realise that we recycle quite a lot, and various other things, but how do you see it? I'd be very interested to hear your thoughts on the subject?

I have many ideas on how someone should go about keeping the environment green. The first thing they should do is stop polluting it. Now, that seems like a very basic answer, however, sometimes it is those basic answers which are the best for topics like this. People can stop polluting the air by, for one, car pooling. Secondly, everyone should start going electric. Going electric would not only keep the earth green, but it also will better the economy. Big coportations should also lend a hand in trying to keep the world green. I believe that they should purposefully donate money to some "green" organization.

Yes, I totally agree with all you say. Thank you for your valuable input. I certainly feel that bigger corporations, especially those who pollute rivers, etc, should be more heavily taxed. Maybe that has already been done... I'm not sure but it would make them think twice about what they're doing. I also feel that although electricity might make journeys slower, it would not only be better for the environment, but the roads would be safer, as drivers would be driving more slowly, and thus have more time to be alert as to the dangers ahead of them. Thank you for a valued response. Brightest Blessings.

I always knew here was more in the air that huirt poeple more than cigs. and some atates here have the clean air act that is to stop the polution from factories and chemical plants also we have tohave our cars smoged each year and it they smoke they are to be put off the road!. and of course our governments arent going to tell us the truth about what is really hurting the envirment1 altho they say they are trying to stop the pollution. BUt they put so much stuff in the gas to clean it up might be worse for us than just plan gas. ok ya wiped the tv off and it was dirty have ya ever tok the back of it off and looked in there. or your computer? I just cleaned out my puter and we have just cleaned out the tv in here. ya wont beleive what ya find. and I would make the lumber companys that strip the trees of the land plant knew one in thier place an also only allow them to take a certain size of tree not all so we would have trees growing all the time. MOre greeenery more cloraphil to help clean the air . as for wars I dont think they will ever stop fior they have gone on for 1,000s of years!. Humans are so possive of their property they are going to hold on to it any way they can and then we have religest nuts that go to war in the name of GOD which make s no since to me SOme of them over in Iraq and Iran are saying this war is a holy war I dont get where that is coming from for I havent hear any one say they should throw down their Koran and put the bible in its place have you?

Well, we could try, my friend! There's a place in Hyde Park, in London, called Speakers' Corner, where freedom of speech is granted, and many rallies are held, so we might be able to get a spot there! lol. I fear your suggestion about the property developers would make no difference, for their trousers/pants would still have pockets to put their money in! ha ha ha. Greedy... power-seeking numbskulls, is what they are! They probably don't know what it's for anyway! :) Brightest Blessings, love and hugs. xx

No, my dear friend. I most certainly have not heard that, but think about it... is there REALLY a difference between one book of beliefs and another? I doubt it. All the other stuff you say is true... more trees and plants are needed. They keep clearing forests and countryside to build new homes... ok, that profits the property developers but what does it do for us? Not a lot! I love my trees and countryside. I love the natural water, plants and wildlife. They're killing it... money-mad idiots who can't see further than their own wallets are killing our World, and we can't do anything to stop them. We let them, lie, dictate, and trick us into believing that if we recycle, stop using aerosols, stop smoking and all that C**p, we can help mend the hole in the ozone layer and help prevent global warming in our children's, children's, lives. Poppycock!!! They need to look in the mirror first, and see where the REAL problem lies. My friend... pass me a soapbox... you and I have it sussed!!! Brightest Blessings, love and hugs. xxx

Well my friend, I do make steps to help conserve and protect mother-earth. We have plants and trees around our house and the neighborhood, we segregate trash and separate plastics from papers and other bio-degradable materials. We have our own compost pit here, where we use to make natural fertilizers. Inside the house, I clean or wipe dusts every now and then, and make a general-cleaning every weekend. I am meticulous on stuffs inside the house, it has to be organized and well-placed as much as possible.

Good for you, Raijin. Yes, I think most people do what you do towards protecting the environment, but sometimes, it seems as though we're banging our heads against a brick walls, because there is always somebody working against us. I have two compost bins, which save a lot of waste and help me to produce an abundance of flowers and vegetation in my garden. I also have a recycling bin and the normal waste bin, and the recycling bin always has more in it. But... we have it drummed into our heads that we should do our part to protect the environment and mend the hole in the ozone layer, but who, might I ask, is exempt from all this? Hmmm... bears thinking about. Brightest Blessings. x

Well done.. my friend. I can see us all walking around in masks soon, to filter out the impurities in the air. Come, come... are we to be deemed so foolish as to swallow what they're telling us? I don't think so! But, do we get a voice? No... and we never will because we're too long in the tooth and far too wise to have the wool pulled over our eyes by the power-seekers. Sorry, Sweetie, but this is a very passionate point with me, owing to my beliefs. I can see the World dying, bit by bit, day by day, at the hands of ignorance. I haven't looked at your link site yet, but I certainly will... thank you. Brightest Blessings, love and hugs. xxxxx

Yes, Aissha... that's quite true, it does help us as well as the environment, but sometimes I get the feeling that it's the poorer element of the World who do all the work to save the environment, whilst the richer, and the governmental workers even, don't pull their weight. Oh well, we have the peace of mind in knowing that we've done out bit. It does really make me cross though. Brightest Blessings my friend, and keep up the good work. xx

We can help this earth before its too late. It is true that pollution is worst at this time. It is scary. Planting trees and other plants can be of help. Also trying to walk or use a bike can help too. There are a lot of ways we can minimize, if not prevent those carbon deposits and other pollutants.

Yes, I agree, we should all act conscientiously, now. Maybe, limiting the number of cars per family would help, if that's possible... I don't know. As you say, cycling is a very worthwhile exercise, not only for the environment but for one's personal fitness. It will only work positively though, if one can breathe fresh air when one is cycling, rather than traffic fumes? I agree also, that planting trees and other plants can help, but how many of these are being hacked down... how many green areas are being cleared for property development? It's scandalous when you think about it, and then, who has to foot the bill? Yup, you got it... tax payers. Brightest Blessings, my friend. x
