No particular reason to share this but just thought I would. The baby needs to see a specialist at the Children's Hospital there...nothing serious just a minor deformity that's embarrassing/awkward to talk about but will if asked lol. It'll be the farthest from home I've been in a couple years seriously so I'm looking forward to it. His appointment is at 11:30 so we'll have to leave here pretty early, especially since we don't really know exactly where we are going. This will be the first of several trips down there so I'm sure it will be easier to deal with once we're used to it. Just to make this somewhat of a discussion...anyone have any experience with the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia? Anyone live in or near Philadelphia? Anyone take a several hour trip away from home recently? Anyone want to share any random fact about anything I've said lol? I know I'm really stretching it with that one but oh well!

Any random fact about anything you said, huh? LOL! Ok, but remember, you asked for it! haha. Nope, I don't live in or near Philadelphia. Nope, I have no experience with the Childrens' Hospital there. I have taken trips that were several miles away from home, but not recently. Last trip like that I took was when I went to Dukesfest 2006, which I really enjoyed. Anyway, good luck on your trip and have fun, aside from the appointment.

Do I dare ask what a Dukesfest is? LOL I hope you understand and aren't bothered by this...but everytime I see your name I start thinking about the General Lee and picturing you as another Duke cousin jumping cars all over Hazzard county lol...so you can just imagine where my mind wandered when you said Dukesfest!

Wow! That is so awesome! I'll just have to add that to my list of "places I have to go that will make s/o roll his eyes and think I'm not quite right in the head lol".

Hope everything gets straightened out with your child, Foxy. Hopefully you'll get use to the trips too. Good luck with both items.

Thanks pro! Like I said it's nothing major, more cosmetic than anything but in a way that could affect certain health issues when he's an adult.

I've known of several people who have had experiences with that hospital and I've heard nothing but good things about it, so your baby will be in great hands, I'm sure. I live about 2 hours from Philadelphia, I guess that's "near" for someone who lives hundreds of miles away but not so much for those who are really close...lol. It's not one of my favorite places to drive to or in, so give yourself extra time and be careful. Not long ago I took several hour trips away from home fairly often with my husband to see sprint car races but recently I've been kind of stuck close to home. Have a safe trip and try to find time to stop for a Philly Cheese Steak and/or a slice of their famous pizza. I don't know the names of any restaurants but I think they have those things all over the place down there. Annie

That's why we chose it too. My s/o's ex lives down there now and her other daughter has to go there frequently and she's always had good things to say plus all the other people we've talked to about it. We could have chosen Hershey which I think would have been closer but I just couldn't seem to find that much "out there" about it or the particular specialists there. I really wish you hadn't mentioned the Philly cheese steaks or pizza! Now I'm going to be craving them til Thurday and will probably stuff myself when I do get them. Since we'll probably have to stay down there for a bit later on (his issue requires surgery) we'll definitely be looking for places to eat near the hospital.

I came back to see if you'd had yourself a cheese steak but I see that you did. You made me hungry for one now too! Annie
