My family gathers together at a remote location each year for 4 days to ring in the new year together...this year we are renting a cabin on the bay and will be leaving in the am...we have continued this tradition for over 8 years..it is really fun with the kids and the grandkids and us "old" folk...LOL...we kayak and eat and hike and eat and stoke the fire and eat and play board games and eat and travel into the little town closest to us and window shop and have a little lunch..then we spend New Year's Eve back at our getaway...laughing and sometimes crying as we relive the many adventures and a few close calls in our lives..it is really special time...We began it right before my husband got his liver transplant and now it's part of the holidays for us...So this is my time to wish you all the best of holidays...and a wonderful, healthy and blessed New Year...let's hope 2008 is really great!!!! HOw about any of you...do you have a tradition like this or something you do every year to ring in the new year? I'll be back on Tuesday to read and enjoy your responses!!!!! Happy New Year and bless you all, Cheers....Linda (rx4life)

WOW! That sounds like a lot of fun. I wish my family did something like that - not that we could afford it, but it sounds GREAT!!! It's too cold where I live to go kayaking, plust the rest of my family wouldn't be interested. I come from a family of drinkers, so it would be just like going to a bar and watching everyone else get drunk! No fun in that! Have a great new year's with your family - "see" you next year!!!

Linda, this tradition sounds like a wonderful time for your family to get together and get closer to each other. What a precious tradition to pass on to your kids and grandkids. I hope you all have a fantastic time bringing in 2008! Watch the eating, lol! Sadly, we don't have any special thing to do with family over the New Year - they all do their own thing! Hubby and I go and watch the fireworks on the beach in Surfers, then have a few drinks together at home, and go down memory lane! It's special to us!

I love that idea!!!!!!!!:) WHen I was back home we used to get together as well, sometimes here, sometimes there having a wonderful time and seeing family members that maybe we hadn't seen for a bit. Unfortunately with me so far away now it wouldn't really work to get my family here, and hubby's family is not really too fond of family gatherings, so I just miss that time ... Happy New Year to you two and all your family.
