I always feel a little guilty because my parents are getting old and I am far away. I cannot come home each year... what about you?

hmmm.. i hope you get paid a decent salary there in s.arabia. I mean a barrel of oil is almost 100 dollars now, it was only 20 dollars 3 years ago.... they have so much money there, nobody there works i guess. I am sorry you had to work since you are 8 years old. This seems unfair to a child dear Pinay. But I am sure you have a good head on your shoulders, you will make a future financially for yourself somehow... :)

Hi,cliffcliff, I am sorry to hear that, My university is near to my home so I can go home at any time I want so as to whenever my mother see me at home she will say"why u come to so frequently...save ur time more on ur studies"even though she said this everytime she saw me with great delight..I know she wants me to go home ... From the day when I grow up I don't have the chance to go far away from my home, however,a lot of my friends, the homesickness araises whenever there is a day for gathering of the families... I admire them so much of course including u..u can go far away to search ur life and to experience so many different things..this kind of life should be the so called integrated life. There is a great love in the world that is the love from the family .this love can't be devided by any barries.any circumstances and can't change from any boundaries.. I am sure ur parents will understand u,but don't froget to visit them whenever u have time ..Actually the old people luck nothing except the love from their children..the love from their children maybe is the best nutriment for them.. Molly... All my best regards for u and ur parents...;-)

hi Molly, Those are some good thoughts about family love.. I live in the state of California, while my parents live in the state of Pennsylvania. See the internet map. It is 2500 miles away. I have some brothers here in Cal that i visited. I have had difficulties in the past with staying home, so i left when I was only 18 years old, now I am 49...hehe.. i lived other places but i always visited home over the years. Now with cell-phone and email it is easier. however be glad for yourself that you live near your folks and that you can study near home. I went to university in Florida. If i had my own family and children i would not feel homesick... Well happy new year to you!! I wish you good luck with all your studies ;)

I am in that same situation, we live 1600 miles apart. I don't really feel guilty about it, I do wish we could have gone this year. But, they know I am very happy where I am, I have a wonderful man in my life and I am working my dream job. I did call on Christmas morning and talked to them, my two daughters that were there, and my sister. And even though I wasn't there in person, they know I was there in my heart.
