Man finds $100,000 worth of bonds in file cabinet

I was watching CNN this morning and there was a story about a man who bought a file cabinet at a garage sale for $2. Hidden in the cabinet was a bunch of bonds worth $100,000. Also in the cabinet was paperwork transferring ownership of the bonds, but the transferees lines were blank, making the physical possessor the owner. The man said he will try and locate the true owner(s). I know it's a technicality, but if I became the legal owner, I don't know if I would try to find the former owners. Fortunately, it's a situation that I have not come across. On the other hand, maybe I should go back on the "garage sale" circuit on the weekends.
