When you go to bed at night do you make sure you lock all the doors? And do you do anything more then just locking them? I make sure they are locked then shove a rug up against it and pile my shoes in front. If you try to open the door with the rug in front of it, the door gets jammed and won't open. So do you do a little extra as a precaution?

No I just make sure that all the doors are locked and I check on the kids and if my hubby went to sleep before me I check on him even though we sleep in the same room.

When I go to sleep at night, I do manage to find myself always checking the locks to make sure, they are in fact, locked. This cannot be a good sign, for no one wants to, when they are quite tired, always find themselves checking the locks. This could be a sign of O.C.D however I have no find it to be uncomfortable as of now.

I live in a flat (apartment) so I only have one external door which I keep locked all the time anyway. I also make sure all the windows are securely shut although I'm in a first floor flat so an intruder would have to do some climbing to get in! Seriously though you should be careful about barricading doors or anything like that. That door could be your escape route in the event of a fire. I know it's only a rug and some shoes but imagine yourself trying to get out and you can't breathe or see because of smoke, etc? I have a friend who is a firefighter and he is always telling me off for leaving stuff lying around in my hallway for that reason. As he says, just a matter of seconds delay in getting out can be fatal. Anway sorry to put the "glooms" on your discussion lol!

Yes I do make sure all the doors are locked and deadbolts are on. We also have a burglar alarm. Our area is very safe but we are in a very large city. I'm alone alot in the summer months since my husband travels with a softball team. He coaches so is gone just about every weekend. We do have a dog also but he doesn't always bark. When the dog is sound asleep it takes alot to wake him as he is older. The cat alerts me if something or someone is outside faster than the dog.

LOL you're kinda paranoid aren't you jill? ^__^
well, every night i make sure that all the doors are locked in our house. either me or my mother do that because the other members of our family are not just that concern and they are careless and lazy. they would start watching tv around 8 and they would watch until they would fall asleep without thinking about the safety of our home. .

I used to put bells on the inside of the doors. That way the bells would go off and startle the person if he or she tried to break in. I also used to brace a door up against a door knob. But my husband has a fit and undoes everything because he' more afraid that we won't be able to get out in a house fire and might die trying to get out our boobbie-trapped door.

You had a boobie-trap with the vacuum cleaner handle. I had the chair braced against the door. Like the things they have now that you can buy to brace the door, it's a lever. It makes it almost impossible to get in without using an axe to get in. Take care.
