You got me laughing in hysterics here...I actually like Parmesan cheese and use it all the time just about, and yes, it doesn't exactly have an agreeable odor...more like stinky, smelly feet. Want to hear a funny story I remember my mom telling me. She would never, ever eat parmesan cheese ever again after an incident happened to her. This must have been when she was a young girl. From what I gather, the grated parmesan cheese was kept in a glass jar by my great-grandmother..ah!!! But my great-grandmother also kept a jar of snow flake kind of laundry detergent in jars too. Uh, I think you can see where this is going..yup, one time my mother grabbed the wrong far and instead of the cheese it was the detergent....LOL Mmmm...well at least my mother had a real clean mouth for awhile...LOL

Hmmm, puts new meaning to I'm going to wash your mouth out with soap. That was a threat to me any time I mouthed off. And yep, one time my mom actually washed my mouth out with soap, lol.

I love parmesan cheese but you are right, it does smell like stinky feet. I don't even know why I ever started eating something that smells so bad but I'm glad I did. I like it on my spaghetti and on my pizza.

Sweet looking avatar! But really, you should ask your boyfriend how he knows what toe jam smells like in the first place, LOL. It does stink, I know. I enjoy it on Italian cuisine, but at my parent's house, they don't have any. Why? Because my dad thinks parmesan cheese smells like VOMIT. And you know what? He has a point. lol

I just saw your comment under mine that your mom actually would put soap in your mouth... I laugh at this, cause I just watched that movie A Christmas Story (AGAIN)..that scene where Ralph's mom puts a bar of Lifeboy soap in his mouth to reveal where he had heard that curse word--LOL

My husband likes to put parmesan cheese on his salad and when we had company for supper last week he called it toe jam powder. I was so mad at him for saying this at the dinner table with a lot of guests. They were people from his work so you would think he would be embarressed, but not. I agree it smells like dirty feet. But it sure tastes good. I use it on my chili and spagetti and in my salad at times. We always have some in the house. I keep it in the fridge even though you don't have to. I find it stays fresher and smells a little bit better.
