What's everyones favourite type of Italian food?

I'm off to Rome in 2 weeks and can't wait to sample some real authentic italian food, whats everyones favourite?!
Mines a toss up between Gnocci and a nice thin base italian pizza from a pizzeria....ooh and tiramasu....no i think Tiramasu wins!!
Do you prefer pasta or pizza, or maybe Italian Ice Cream is your favourite!

You are going to Rome? Good for you! I'm italian so I can give you advice ;)
Try Spaghetti Amatriciana : it's pasta with a sauce of tomato and bacon that's really delicious (it's typical of Rome)
I've never eaten a pizza in Rome so I don't know if they are actually good, the best pizzas are in Naples and in the south of Italy in general. Anyway, if you ever eat in a pizzeria, ask for Margherita with Buffalo mozzarella, it's the best pizza EVER. Make sure it's buffalo mozzarella and not another type of cheese, because some pizzerias use cheaper and less good cheese.
Tiramisu and ice cream are good ^__^
Tiramisu isn't even hard to cook, you could prepare one yourself.

Oh great thank you, I am very excited about going to Rome it is some where I have wanted to go for a while, we are only there for 4 days but am looking forward to seeing the sights and eating lots of good food! I will definately look out for the things you mentioned, definately want to eat something that i don't usually as there's no point going to Italy to eat the same pasta I eat at home every week, although I'm sure the quality would be a lot better!!

I remeber now that a roman friend of mine wanted to bring us in one of these three pizzerias: "Baffetto", "Montecarlo" and "Da Francesco" because he said they were good, but at the end we went to a japanese restaurant :D. You can try them if you want.

I love spagetti and meatballs, lassangna, seafood lingini. Of course I got pregnant to a full blooded italian and now I am always craving italian food. I have cooked up so much spagetti that my family has banded me from the kitchen. lol
