Wow! A trucker carrying "a load of Volkswagen cars drove his cab and several cars into San Diego Bay after blacking out at a marine terminal." He had some sort of medical emergency which caused the black out. He regained consciousness underwater and swam 13 feet to the surface. He is doing okay. Isn't that just the most amazing thing you've ever heard! He was one lucky guy! http://www.theconservativevoice.com/ap/article.html?mi=D8TRMKG00&apc=9001

He sure was. I wonder what the medical emergency he had. Maybe he was diabetic or had high blood pressure. He might have had a minor stroke. If those were the cases, it is a wonder and a miracle that he is still alive. I do hope that he gets himself checked out at the hospital and maybe he should quit work or get some other where he will not be a danger to himself.

I agree he is very lucky to be alive. I am glad he did regain consciousness to know he was underwater and he got himself out and he is ok. That sounds like a miracle to me.

WOW! I'm glad that he made it out alive. This is why I'm not able to drive right now - I have black-out/fainting/seizure/whatever spells. Until they figure out what's wrong and can treat it, I can't drive. I hope that they come to the same conclusion with this guy. Maybe I should look more closer at this story and see what they come up with as a diagnosis for him. Maybe I'll take the article to my MD appt. tomorrow. Good idea! Thanks soooooooo much for sharing this story!!! I hope that the company that he works for doesn't fire him over this. God, how would he ever be able to repay all those expensive cars? I don't think they're any good after they end up in the water.

WOW! Im glad the guy came to and was able to get out of the water. That had to be a terrible experiance for him. Im glad he is doing good. I wonder how he got out of the sinking truck? was he able to open the door or did he have to climb out the window? Either way he is lucky and someone was watching out for him.

He is one lucky guy for not drowning. But...if he has a medical condition that causes black-outs, why in the world is he driving a truck? He was putting thousands of ppl at risk whenever he got behind the wheel.

It is a shame that it happened. If he was going to black out, I am glad no one was hurt. I am glad that he was able to get out and hopefully get the help he needs. He was very lucky.

Wow he is one lucky guy for sure to survive. I guess he will lose his truck license anyway though for medical reasons if he is blacking out, most likely. Bet he is just happy to be alive at this moment though. Thanks for sharing and Happy new year to you and your loved ones esterlou.

Good thing he came to and was able to swim to the surface. Hopefully, he won't be doing any more driving. He may not be so lucky next time. HAPPY NEW YEAR!! **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

incredible - not only that he came to in time but that he had the presence of mind to get himself out and swim to safety. I hope they discover the cause of the black out and he receives proper treatment. it is too bad he did not sense something was amiss and pull over to a safe spot before any of this even took place.

Why dose this story not suprise me? Oh, wait I was rear ended because a trucker blacked out. I lost my grandmother in the crash. I also lost one of my dogs. I was knocked out cold and I don't really remember much about the crash. I know that it took fire rescue 32 minutes to get to the seen. I also know that three phone calls from my cell phone went out. FHP stated that the crash happend at 10:15 pm but a call went out from my cell phone to 911 at 9:02 pm.

He sure was lucky to regain conscious, or he would have drowned. I wonder though if his family thinks it was bad luck to drive into the marine terminal or if they think he was lucky to be alive. It all depends how we feel, if we look at the good things or the bad things. Thanks for sharing this with us, I never heard about it on the news.
