you can mix 1 package onion soup mix, water, and pot roast in a slow cooker...it is easy...and good on sandwiches :) you can also put in a baking pan w/onion soup mix on top and some water and cook in the oven...i don't know at what temp or for how long though

The old traditional way is always best stacy. Mine is easy and the flavor is always good. Salt and pepper the meat to your liking. Dredge it in flour and sear it in a heavy skillet. When lightly browned on all sides transfer the roast to a baking dish. If you like garlic add it to the salt and pepper before you sear it in the skillet. Otherwise you can add minced garlic to the baking dish. There's two ways to think about it. You can cook the roast with vegetables; potatoes, onion, carrot and celery or you can cook the meat seperately from the vegetables. I've done it both ways. I like to cook the meat seperately with maybe one rib of celery, one carrot and a bit of onion just for flavor. I like to cook the potatoes by themselves because we like mashed potatoes and gravy. The drippings from cooking the roast make the best gravy. You can cook the roast covered or uncovered. I cover mine with foil which produces enough juice to make a good gravy. good luck with it.
