Need advice on traffic

I need some advice on how to get some traffic to my site. What do you guys do to get good traffic to your site. I know you can post it around mylot and put it as your site. I have also posted at a few other forums and submitted my link to a few link directories. I'm looking to get some goo free traffic , i could by some ads but thats not the point. What do you do to get traffic to your site.
