I can't begin to imagine how Diabetics or anyone with a health issue where they must prepare their meals special. I'm not diabetic, but the history of it has run in my family. I would like for those who have cooking tips, who don't mind sharing, please tell me some of the things you do when you cook food at home for yourself. Even how you order when you go out to eat? I would like to know so I can start applying some of these ideas to my own health.

Diabetes runs in my family too, but I don't eat a diabetic diet. I try to eat right and I eat as fresh and as organic as I can get. I drink lots of water and very little soda. I also drink coffee, though I don't think it's proven, but I read a couple of years ago about coffee and the effects on blood sugar. (of course this is black coffee, no sugar) My diet is also more of what I call, "clean" diet. Which means I don't eat or I eat VERY little pork,shrimp,lobster,etc... These are the foods that G♥d had said was not clean. So more of a Mediterranean diet. I do have my occasional goodies, chocolate and sweets, but not as often.. And if you quit thinking of it as a diet and more of a lifestyle, then it is easier to continue. I sometimes also fast, to get rid of toxins, but that is harder to do..lol

Your eating habits are much like ours. We don't do the unclean thing either. I'm not thinking of it as a diet, rather just doing what I can to remain healthy. And drink lots of water......

I'm not diabetic either but, one of my friends here on MyLot has a blog with some really yummy recipes on it. I've tried some of them and they are great. Her name is Kowgirl. I'll see if I can get her to reply to this discussion for you. You have to try her potato chip recipe.

Right now, I suffer from pregnancy diabetes. I't been like that for 3month and I still have 3 month to be like that. At first it was very hard finding what to eat. I have to watch more what I eat then a normal diabetes person. Right now I'm getting good at it, but I just can,t wait to be able to eat a very big bowl of pasta. To be sure not be hungry I just eat more meat and more veggies. But when I go somewhere else or that I roder something, it,s really hard to count everything I eat. I'M happy because I also have injection of insuline so it,s less harder for me because I just inject more lol. But I will come back to this discussion because I really want to know how real diabetes does it.

I would like to get more involved so I can cook food that is better for us now, instead of having to wait. Anything to stay as healthy as we are.
