I love all animals, however, I think guinea pigs the best pets for children, especially young children. Guinea pigs are very gentle, loving and i've never had one bite me or the kids yet! Does anyone agree that they are cute and the best pets or do you have your own favourite pet?

I love rabbits too, they are lovely but they are also very nervous creatures and can scratch and even sometimes bite if they get scared,a bit like cute hamsters

for me, i dont agree that guinea pigs are the best pets for children because, in our family, we are also petlovers and we also have guinea pigs before, and guinea pigs are not that playful and friendly and not all guinea pigs are tamed animals. i think they are not for children because we know that children are innocents and maybe they just do anything to the guinea pigs and maybe they will be bitten.... for me, the best pet for kids is dog, as always because dogs are playful and they are really man's best friend..

The best pet for children is a kind of pet the parents have experience in taking care of, and enjoy being around, and want in their lives. After all, the parent is the one who is responsible for the pet, will pay for the vet care, the food, and will feed the pet, not the child.

"never had one bite me or the kids yet" Yet being the right word. My biology teacher had both a ferret and 2 Guinea pigs. The Guinea pigs were violent and no one was allowed near their cage, but the ferret was another story. That ferret was allowed to run around our classroom while she taught. Unbeknownst to me, that ferret decided he liked my bookbag the best and burrowed down to the bottom. After biology class ended, I put my book in the bag, zipped it up and headed to my next class. When I reached into the bag to get my other book out for the class after my biology class, that ferret was in there asleep. It was the only time my teacher said someone had used the excuse that there was a ferret in their bookbag.

i personally think that the best pet for a child would have to be a cat... they are soft cute and cuddle if you get a kitten they are more playful so its good to be around a child, maybe when they are a little older a nice dog?

I've also heard that guinea pigs are a good first pet for kids. I've never had one though, so I can't say from my own experience if this is true. When I was little my first pet was a kitten. I got him when I was about 7 or 8 years old. Another good first pet are rabbits (except for the Netherlands dwarfs as I've read that they can get spooked easily by little kids). My favorite pet is a kitten. My youngest son wants one, but unfortunately we have too many other pets so a kitten will have to wait.

A really great pet for kids is actually rats. They've got a horrid reputation, but the reality is they're clean, friendly, and intelligent. They're very social, and groom themselves all day like cats do, and you can teach them tricks. They're also less expensive and low-maintenance when compared to more traditional pets like dogs and cats. I have four little girlies, and they're absolutely adorable.
