What can you do

I hurt my ankle about four weeks. I went to the ER when it happened and they said it was just sprained and that I would be able to walk on it again in about three or four days. They took x-rays and said there where no breaks, but that was all they did. They didn't examine my ankle at all. It's been almost four weeks now and I still can't walk on it. When I try, yes I do try because I want to be able to, it feels as though I'm stepping down on a bed of needles. It feels like that on the bottom of my foot whenever I put pressure on it. And my foot will get so cold, inside and outside of my foot. I want to go see a specialist, but I don't have insurance or the money to go. And there's no point of even going to the ER again because they obviously don't care enough to see exactly what is wrong with me. I'm just so tired of not being about to do anything because of being on cruches. Thanks for letting me vent guys!

I can totally understand what you are experiencing. You want to do something, resume your normal life and you just can't because of this injury. You don't realize how important one part of the body is to the rest until you injure it! I am going through some back problems and believe me, I know what your going through. I wish there was something they could do for you to help get back on your feet. At least it would be comforting to know what the problem is so you can face it head on and have an idea of how long to heal and what exactly you can do. My prayers are with you girl!

You are so right. I didn't realize how important my ankle was until now. Now I know exactly how important it is. I will just have to stay off of it and hope it heals like it is suppose to. I hope all goes well with your back as well! Thank you!

Thank you! Yes, I do want to get back to at least a somewhat normal life. I'm going to try to just stay off of it and hope it heals soon!

Well, I wouldn't be judgemental about the doctors in the ER, but they probably did all they could. If they didn't see any breaks, there probably isn't any, but if you have the x-ray picture with you, you could ask other doctors to check it. But, there are many other things that could be painful, other than breaks. But, as you don't want to go to specialist, there is no much you could do. I would recommend to go, cause the pain has no price. So complicated :(

I understand what you are saying, but have noticed that when I did have insurance I got better care at the ER. It's not that I don't want to go to the specialist, it's that I don't have insurance and I don't have any money to go. My mom and husband thinks I might have nerve damage, something that will only show on an MRI. Thank you for your responce.

I would soak it in Epson Salts and hope it helps. I am afraid that you are probably going to end up having to have it looked at. If they did not catch something I would contact the administrator of the hospital and yell until they did something about the bill. You should not have to pay for a wrong diagnosis.

I agree I shouldn't have to pay for the wrong diagnosis. I am probably going to have to go back and demand they do more than what they have. I will try the epson salt. Thank you!

If that will happen to me. I have one remedy for that. I need an ointment to put and just massage the hurt part of my ankle. I will put a bandage. If that will not work, I will call a hilot (witch doctor or sometime it will called witch therapist) to heal. And the last option is to go to the doctor.

I am not a specialist but I would like to share my experience with you. I also hurt my ankle in a basketball game and I didn't walk straight for about two weeks. I massage it every day and had total rest. I think in your area, United States, there are good hospitals with free consultations. You might as well consult a doctor. I think it's worth it! I hope to hear you're okay!

Thank you. Unfortunately in my area there aren't any free doctors. The ER doctors won't do everything they can unless you have insurance and specialist want insurance or cash up front. I can't even massage my ankle because of the pain. Any amount of pressure hurts badly. I thank you for you advise and wish there were doctors around here that would help me, but unfortunately there aren't.
