Should doubtful caught behind decisions be referred to the third umpire?

Yuvraj Singh fell to a dubious caught behind decision on the second day of the Boxing day Test match against Australia, which changed the course of the match. Do you think such close caught behind calls should be referred to the third umpire?

yes i think this is a thing which should be done in the cricket today. now the game is very competitive and so even a single decission can change the whole match scenario. like the catch of ponting was crucial when he was on 17. then the few wrong decission on symonds. if these were given, india would have been in a better position and that would lead to a win if possible which chould have canged the series result also. so i think 3rd umpire should be consulted. and when you can see that even third umpire is wrong the match referee should take action and make sure right decission s taken.

A very noble idea indeed, but will it help all the time? We saw how even the most blatant of dismissals (Symond's stumping) was not caught. That brings us back to square one. I think we are in a catch 22 situation. If you ask me, i would rather have the onfield umpires making mistakes than technology proving insufficient or inconclusive.

I do think doubful catches should be referred to the third umpire. By providing doubtful catches to the third umpire more accurate decisions can be made. I also believe the side screen should also help the umpires in making decisions. Umpires should be given permission to look at the side screen and make the correct decisions.

i think that these decisions should be left to the ground umpires itself.... coz if u give everything to the third umpire then the two ground umpires will be left only to see no balls and wides which i think is unfair to the pride of the umpire.... Although correct decisions are important to the game i still feel that ground umpiresd must be given more importance than the TV umpire....

I always think that the doubtful decisions should be referred to the third umpire. But, then if the umpire in the middle is confident of the decision and does not consider it doubtful what do you do. That is what happened in case of Yuvraj, so even if the doubtful decisions get referred to the third umpire the onus is still on the umpires in the middle to decide whether it is doubtful or not. Cheers! Ram

you are right!! Yuvraj singh wan not out but Umpire given out when India was facing trouble. Today's match Symonds was also clear out when he was playing on 23 but Umpire denied it. Now symond is playing 135 unbeatable. So sometimes Umpire given result frausted us. So Umpire should given to third umpire when they in doubtful.
