Do you have a favorite kids song? Do you know the words and movements?

Where Is Thumbkin? - where is thumbkin

After hours of listening to Barney and the Wiggles I started actually thinking about the songs I'm hearing. It's funny how kids songs go from generation to generation and barely change except for the smallest changes different singers make in their versions. I think my granddaughter is surprised that I know the words to just about every song we hear (of course after hours of listening to the same cd who wouldn't right?). Some of these songs bring back memories from when my kids where small and listened to the same ones and I feel bad because at that time I was always too busy to actually sit and listen to the music with them. Now that I'm a Gram I have nothing but time and can do it. My favorite song is Where Is Thumbkin. I remember my kids doing this little thing with the hands behind their backs and having the fingers moving and singing! Now I'm doing it with Vicky! Have you come to like any kids song in particular? Do your kids have favorite songs? Do you know all the words and movements (if any) to them?

We are not allowed to watch barny in this house!! i dont like that dino, he's scary. and i also dont like dora and her lil creepy cousin!! lol. As for songs, my daughter really likes the ones that you can do actions with too. I think so far her favorite has been Shake the sillies out.. I had never heard of it before she was born, but we went to a parent/baby class that taught us all kinds of cool songs you can sing and do with babies and small kids. She also realy likes Old macdonald and mary had a little lamb. When she was REALLY little. Like a Newborn baby, the only thing that would make her stop crying was for me to sing rock a bye baby... Which they HAVE changed the words from Down will come baby cradle and all, to mommy will catch you cradle and all. LOL. I guess babies falling out of tree's wasn't kid friendly enough for someone :)

lol....I've been shaking the sillies out for two days now! That's one I never heard before either. You just brought back a memory! When my granddaughter had open heart surgery at a year old or so they were trying to get her to come out of the anesthesia and I sat next to her crib singing Old McDonald and she came out of it with a smile!

Yes - Blue's Clue's! Both my GD's love that show. It is fun and educational as they look for clues to solve a question or situation, or figure something out. It has hand motions and wiggles and they both look so cute doing it!

Unfortunately Blue's Clue's is way beyond Vicky's scope of understanding so the program does nothing for her. I've tried to get her into it but I can the tough time she has with it.

Hi my favourite childrens song would have to be "The Wheels On The Bus Go Round And Round All Day Long" this is because everytime we get on a bus I always sing it to my daughter and do the actions. But, if you were talking about music I listened to as a child I would say it was "Grandma We Love You" this was done by the St Winifreds choir.

Yes i remember a few songs from my kids when they were small, and the words too..I know all the barney songs, my little grandson (now 17) watched Barney constantly..He would go "I love you, you love me ,were a happy family, with a great big hug,and $$$$7#46 want you say you love me too,! I forgot that part haha..My daughter had one she sang all the time ,she got it from Sunday school.. here's the words..."the devil is a sly old fox, if i could catch him i'd put in in a box, lock that box and throw away the key for all the tricks he's played on me"..Oh she sang that all the time..Instead of saying "sly old fox" she would say slide old fox"haha..Oh and she was going to make a record Lol .I think she was 5 years old at the time...we laugh about it now!

My favorite is the theme song from Berenstain Bears, ctry! I have always loved them and love the song, lol. When my little great-grandson comes over he always wants to go on the computer to play some of his favorite games from PBS series. I, of course, know every word in the Barney song, and have grown quite fond of the theme from Arthur. Oh, and I would be remiss if I left out Dragon Tales!

There are a lot of songs that kids can sing with actions. But I'm particular to what song my kids are singing. I saw to it that they only sing Christian songs, so they know what not to sing and what to sing! We usually sing, Jesus Loves Me, God is so Good, Read your bible, Obedience is the very best way... etc.

Good to hear you let your children listen to Christian music.

I have so many, I can't even think of them all, but a few faves are Rhinosauras Tap, Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes, Hokey Pokey, and Hot Potato, Hot Potato by the Wiggles.

Sure, I have lots of kids songs because I have a little child now. I like to teach my child to sing and it's always lovely to hear my son sings. My favorite kids song may be Apple round, apple red. Apple juicy, apple sweet. Apple, apple, I love you. Apple sweet I love to eat. Sorry I don't know the song's name, so I have to write its lyrics here.

I know lots of children's songs because I'm somewhat required to know them in dealing with lots of children in a daily basis. I've always liked "This Old Man" as a kid but I never learned the actions to that song. Another favorite is "The Wheels on the Bus" with the matching actions. I don't have my own kids yet to teach those songs to but we're expecting my first niece and I'm quite excited in teaching her children's songs. But my siblings and I sort of made an agreement not to buy anything with that purple dino in it!!! LOL.

Well, I'm still stuck with Barney and the "I love you" song is something that makes me leave whatever I'm doing and Vicky and I sing it together. That song actually just taught her to say I Love You a few months ago. That's one of the very few phrases she can say and we owe it all to Barney.

To be honest with you, Iv always liked it on kids tele where they teach you a new dance.. such as the 'Brum Bum Wiggle' :D But then again, I also like the ones such as the hokey kokey and yano, the general traditional ones. But everyone has their own taste :D
