I Want To Hear Your New Year Resolutions

I would like to hear what other peoples resolutions are. I want real ones that people are actually going to do "not lose 50 lbs by the end of January and stuff like that". I want to hear new year resolutions that are really going to change your life "and possibly other people around you lives". I would like the post like the following. I am going to "put whatever your goal is" this year "or put when you want to have it done by, like July". Then explain why you chose it and how it is going to help you and or the poeple around you. "My Example" I am going to make sure that my house is as energy saving as possible by the end of July. "Please note that I know a lot of people are not living in a house, but a lot of the following can be done in an apartment, trailer, loft, etc. and save energy." I am going to do this because it will help my bills be reduced and save energy. I am going to do this by first changing all my old bulbs to the newer energy saving bulbs "even if the old ones are still working (you have to stick to goals right:)". I'm then going to make sure that all the gaps "around door leading outside and windows" are properly sealed to prevent heat/AC loss. Then I'm going to fix my cloths line outside "it's been broke for years" so that I will not really on the energy hog of a dryer to dry my cloths "and that will be less heat in the house during the warmer months save on AC". In the warmer months "summer esp." instead of setting it at 55-60 I am going to set it to 62-65, sure it is only a couple of degrees but it will add up. After doing these things by the end of July I am going to compare my bill amounts from a year ago "I keep most of them in a folder in my file cabinet, odd yes I know" and see how much I am saving and if that is not enough I will look into other methods of saving energy. My goals during winter months is to use the heater less "instead of setting it at 75-78 I will try 68-70 (it makes alot of difference if you look at the final cost on the bills at end of month and add them up for all winter)" and I am also going to use my fireplace more often. I look forward to hearing from you, Bryan

a fireplace is less energy efficent and less cost efficient, even if you cut all the wood yourself. you are better off to seal it up, but we keep our fireplace just because we genuinely enjoy using it. another helpful thing we did was cover all our windows with insulation. this is savings us TONS of money. good luck with your resolution!!

I do not understand how this can be so "not saying that it is not" but I can heat 1/2 my house during the winter when I have my fire place going "sure the far rooms are a little bit cooler then the living room". I also do cut/split my own wood. when I burn wood in my fireplace I usually turn the heater to cerculate mode "so that it is not useing gas" it pulls the heat from the living room "the heater unit is the next room over" and blows it through the rest of the house.
