Last year, a 17-year-old Texan was killed when her car was struck by a 90-year-old driver. As a result, a new law went into effect in Texas that requires people 79 or older to renew their licenses in person. Should there be tougher laws for older drivers?

I think that's only fair. You can't disagree that a lot of people lose their sight, hearing and speed to react when they get older. My grandmother is a liability in the car, it makes sense for their safety aswell as others. If they are good enough they will pass hopefully.

Yes, there should be tougher laws for older drivers. It is a fact that reflexes and reaction time slow way down as we age, and vision and hearing are often not as sharp. Older drivers should not only have to renew in person, but also pass vision and hearing tests.

It is a good idea.. but we also have to remember that the young drivers are also quiet reckless. And everyone knows that driving itself is quite dangerous when you don't drive carefully.

May be a good idea. it is said that as we age, our reflexes slow down. Taking a test every few years may be a good idea. Showing up in person! Good for Texas. I would show. If I am too old to control a vehicle, I wouldn't want someone to be injured or killed. Not for my pride.
