For most of the last decade, the city and county of Sheboygan, WI has been served by Orange Cross Ambulance. Orange Cross is a not for profit ambulance service owned by the two hospitals in the city of Sheboygan. As of New Years' Day, the contract between the city and Orange Cross has ended and Sheboygan Fire Department will be taking over ambulance service for the city. Now, I've had to call on the Sheboygan Fire Department, and can tell you that they are a first rate fire outfit. I have no doubt that they will offer the same great service if I ever need their ambulance services. Orange Cross always exceeded the standards set by the contract, they have been a great asset to our city. Being an extension of the local hospitals allowed them to share assets to keep the costs low... along with rates. We'll get great ambulance service either way. My question is , what's the point of the change? Normally a municiple ambulance service is funded through some sort of tax, and is part of the city budget. Rates are either very low, or patients aren't charged for services rendered. That's not what will happen here in The Union of Sheboygan Socialist Republic. The rates were released the other day. Basic Life Support services will cost residence $575. Advanced Life Support will cost $750. Here's the real reason Mayor Perez, the Fire Chief, and the members of the city councel who backed the change. "The first-year revenue from the service, after expenses, is estimated at $190,000, based on roughly 2,200 emergency calls, according to fire department officials." You see, it just irked their socialist cookies to see money changing hands in Sheboygan with none of it going to their greedy little meat hooks. The City of Sheboygan, WI doesn't simply want to tax companies that do business here... more and more we see examples of where they want to BE the business here.

It has been 5 month and I was wondering if anything has changed? You have to love liberals, they do not have a problem with money as long as the money is coming into their hands.
