New year celebrations

First of all, happy new year everyone! I wish you all the best for 2008. I went to a pub on new year's eve to see in the new year and was very surprised at 23:50 when all the bar staff disappeared from the bar to go and celebrate the new year! I was about to buy another drink to toast the new year (and so were a lot of other people who were left standing at an empty bar) when they left! I found this unbelievable - surely someone running a bar wants to make the most of their sales just before the new year? I was very annoyed about this - do you think that is unreasonable of me? Have you experienced something similar to this before? Anyway, I still saw in the new year in another traditional way so I was happy. ;-)
