Ok this has got to be one of the oddest MIL behavior's that I've reported. This morning she woke me and the baby up because she couldn't find her fabric cup holder that she takes to work with her. She also tried to wake up the almost 5 year old to ask if he knew where it was. She was digging through the TRASH looking for it too. She searched every room in the house (and I mean every room which is annoying because I think some of us deserve a little privacy) and ended up late for work over this. In the end she grabbed her foam cup holder and took that instead...yeah, the lost one wasn't her only one, just THE ONE she wanted. Would any of you go to that much trouble over something like that? I know I was barely awake at the time but it had me scratching my head as to what the big deal was.

This is certainly odd behaviour. On the other hand maybe she is frustrated with the living arrangements. Can you not find a place of your own or can she not find a place of her own. I certainly would be upset if my kids were woken up over a stupid piece of cloth.

Well, keep on trying. It is obvious they really don't want you there but I think it would make sense to have a nice chat with them. If you pay rent you have the right to your own private quarters even if it is only one room. I would tell them that they do not give you the respect you are entitled to and they violate your privacy. Hopefully you can end this situation very soon. My very best wishes to you.

Well we're trying, see we had things lined up to move a trailer up her to get us started with something of our own again but now they keep saying they want to sell this place so our trailer is sitting elsewhere and we don't know what to do with it. It's too old to go in the local trailer parks and this is the only family land with a well and septic for two homes. We can't afford to just buy this place because they are asking way more than it's worth (even half of what they're asking is too high for it's worth). We've had a bad run of luck with vehicles so between that and paying them rent to live with them here we haven't been able to save up to rent a place elsewhere. We're working hard on that though so hopefully this situation won't last much longer.

Well that would make me yell at her probably, for waking me up for something so stupid. Like why would you be late for work over something so silly! My MIL is Crazy, I assume you live with her since she was at your house to wake you up, I FEEL YOUR PAIN! lol If i lived with my MIL i would probably be in jail for assult or murder! She absolutely drives me crazy. I am so glad that i live over 2000 miles away from her! i can avoid her phone calls if i want without her being able to TRACK ME DOWN everywhere i go lol.

LOL...I know, I keep asking s/o why he moved back here. He never lived here before and had plenty of chances to stay far far away but still ended up here. I mean it's a good thing because if he had stayed far away I never would have met him but sometimes I just wish he'd kept some ties in those other places!

I'm sure there was a reason that I will probably never understand. It did seem silly to be late for work over it.

OMG that's so obsessive! Why would you search everywhere like that if you KNOW it's really not going to be in any of those places! Like someone's bedroom for god's sakes! I hate when people kirk out over little things like that. Feel bad for you :(

Yeah I was wondering how it could have wandered off into a bedroom too. And it annoyed me too because she was going off about how she'd looked under every end table and what not so I didn't look in any of those places and it turns out that's exactly where it was! As soon as she got home from work she asked my son if he knew where it was and he crawled right under the end table and pulled it out.

That much kaos over a stupid cup holder? She is insane! Who cares about a stupid cup holder? I would not have done that even if it was my only one! Of course I don't use cup holders anyway, but that is beside the point. That's a really stupid reason to go ransaking through the entire house like a mad woman, and wake everyone up! Especially if it makes you late for work! I would have told her that the stupid cup holder was probably up her butt and that she needed to get a life! LOL!

Seems like she was very picky over a cup holder!! I'd never go through all that trouble just for that, unless it was something i absolutely needed and i just had that specific one that i was looking for...but a cup holder? plz!

She claimed that her foam one just didn't work as well...I guess I don't use cup holders enough to know if there really is a difference. At least it has since been found so no more drama about it.

Everyone has a routine they adhere to and everyone has favorite "things" that they use every day. Sometimes you feel naked without your regular things. How about if you couldn't find your watch? Some people are just more dependent on their things.

Hmm... I find it peculiar that you still need a holder for your cup. A cup is a cup, why do you need another holder for it? Your MIL is also one of a kind. If she never uses any of your stuff in your room, what makes her think that her cup holder will end up there? Guess this cup holder must really be something... or she is just trying to find an excuse to irk you for the sake of it. People are weird. They never want to make things easy for each other. Some will even go to the point to antagonize the other just because he/she can. Sigh~~!

I sure wouldn't make myself late for work over a certain type of cup. I may look in the obvious places and then be done with it. And I sure wouldn't wake up a bunch of people, just because I couldn't find it! Now keys may be a different story, because without them I wouldn't be able to leave!

It sounds like she may just be tired of having y'all there. I know you probably don't have any other choice and you are stuck in that situation. Just try and remember that she is stuck in the situation too.

I do try to be very understanding of that, I just wish she'd realize how much harder she'd have it if we were gone...nobody seems to notice that I take care of all the heavy work around here, and what do I get for it? Woken up over a cup holder!

Maybe one persons cup holder is another persons security blanket??? I don't know anything about your MIL because I'm so new here, but surely there must be something more to it than just the cup holder! At least, I would hope so. Does she always make mountains out of molehills? If this is what she's always like, how do you have even a modicum of sanity left? You must be one strong Mama to deal with that on a day to day basis! I don't think I could do it - okay, I know I couldn't. There must be a place reserved for you in heaven - you surely deserve it.

I honestly think we are all slowly losing our sanity together...some families go for walks together, we drive each other straight to the looney bin.

I dont give two sh*ts about what cup holder i use, dont even remember the last time i used one. Does she have any obsessive thing about her cupholder. Majbe its a cupholder going back thousands of years or something. whatever its with the cupholder i feel she went threw to much work for nothing, and at the end she just took some other holder.

LOL...yes, if Jesus drank soda he must have used that cup holder as important as she thought it was! It was the first thing she asked about when she came home and sure enough my son knew right where it was.

how do you not know that is just a cheap imitation, ive heard that crusader/templar knights found so many shards of the cross they say jesus was crusified on, they could of made three similar sized ones. damn, in your right then someone has done a serious misinformation in the bible, think il test how it would be if done correct. While they were eating, Jesus took a Big Mac, and after a blessing, he broke it to the disciples, and said take, eat: this is something i bought during my walk outside. And then he had taken a cup (guess whos cup) and given thanks, he gave it to them, saying drink from it, all of you, for this is the Dr. Pepper of the covenant, which is poured out for many forgiveness of sins.

Hon, I'm afraid this woman is a card short of a full deck, or however that old saying goes! It seems like she enjoys making your life miserable and that's really sad since you live under the same roof. What's so special about this cup holder, I mean like you said, she had another one, don't all cup holders serve the same darn purpose? I guess it takes all kinds but I'd have a heckuva time taking her, especially first thing in the morning when I was barely awake. Annie
