When did buying a pair of runners become so difficult?

I need a new pair of running shoes. In the olden days that would require one trip to the shoe store. Grab a pair of Nikes in the colour you want and then off you go, good for another year. I walked into the shoe store yesterday and didn't know where to begin. Shoes for walking, shoes for running, shoes for fitness training, shoes with air insoles, shoes shoes shoes! I just want comfortable sneakers. Why did this have to become such a hard choice? I left the store in a dazed and confused state and my shoes still have holes...

Yeah, I like a pair of shoes that I can do everything in... run, hike, play tennis, and that keep my feet dry if I have to cross the river. That's why I wear combat boots with everything... they are the best solution I've found so far. Fortunately though I don't play a lot of tennis, as that's not an area that they work the best in.

Hehehe. Yes it would! And these suckers are heavy so they're legs would be even more muscular than are now! Hard to imagine.

I believe the shoe company are now commercializing even those tennis shoes to the public, instead of putting them on Sports Stores, they put them almost in every part of the mall. Now, talk about monoplizing products and brand competitions.. LoL
Sometimes, I just ask for sales attendants/clerks on where to find such sneakers which are obviously used for casual wears!;)

Boy, can I relate to this discussion lol. Yes, it used to be much easier to buy running shoes long ago. Now there's so many different styles, types, and all, the choices are just mind boggling. Are you going for walkers, runners, cross trainers, etc, etc, etc?! Not to mention that the tennies of yore aren't as ugly as they are now...yuk!! Then you have the difference of sizes and fits, one store can have a whole rack of size 6 1/2's & 7's, and each and every different brand will fit different...you go to your standard size, and then find that one pair fits better in an 8 (which I never wore before) or even a 5 (going the other way!) I hate going to get new sneakers, there's too many choices, and half of them you couldn't pay me to wear!

A few possible answers here. That technology has advanced and the different choices are better for our feet? Whatcha think? NAH! I think marketing, and celebrity it all comes down to GREEN. bells and whistles, money money.I say find a pair you like. Be it Nike, addidas, Reebok, whatever.then stick to it!Otherwise it's like the cereal isle at the grocery store. Too many choices! Good luck.
