What Would You Pay To Have Your Work Published?

Here's the scenario. You have a group of poetry or maybe you have a family history you've compiled. Maybe you have a cookbook you've written or a novel and you want to turn it into book form to give to your family and friends. Or, maybe you want to sell it and make some extra money. How much would you honestly be willing to pay to have your work organized, proof read, put into a comb type binding and made ready for you to sell? How much would you be willing to pay for each copy? Would you, as a writer, want your work made ready in such a way or had you rather pay the big bucks to have it published by a well known publishing company?

Before to publish my first book 10 years ago i looked for sponsors.I was sick and tired to be ignored just because i am nobody. For me it was a real problem to convince the sponsors that i am a perspective authors.Later some my friends and the person i was in relation with collected the money for me and gave me a chance. This was one of the best and the most exciting moments in my life.It doesnt matter am i a author of bestsellers, am i popular...for me it was more important that they believe in me.

I must agree with the responses above Not one dime...a publisher would have to pay me Then again if you just wanted what you have done to be for family and friends only, then self-publishing would work just fine. It wouldn't be in hard back but still in book form and you wont need a publishing company to do that.

In addendum to the answers above, please also analyze the saleability of the literary works you've compiled into a book so you won't be wasting your money for its publication. If you're sure that your work will be a big hit, then go for a publishing company as an investment. Just make sure you'll get a promising return for it. Have a great day!
