Do you still have your class ring?

Do you wear it? I'm home for a visit and came across my class ring. I never wore it. I got the cheapest ring and I think it's kind of ugly. I think I only got it because most everyone else was getting one. We had a ring ceremony and a ring dance (didn't go to the dance) I guess I wanted to be like everyone else. I'm not a jewelry wearing person and only wore it a few times in high school. After that I just put it in a box and forgot about it until recently. I hated high school so it doesn't hold any sentimental value for me.

I never got a class ring. I don't think any of the kids in my family did. Only a few of my high school friends bother to get one either. I thought they were a waste of money.

Me too, I also think class rings are a waste of money. I bought a t-shirt in my senior year but now, I do not know what happened to it because I cannot find it.

I still have my highschool ring it is just a simple ring with my birthstone in it. I don't wear it anymore I think it would look silly for a 30 year old to be wearing a class ring and I am like you I hated highschool so it would not really mean anything to me anyways. I would rather wear my wedding ring and some rings my husband has given me over the years.

I thought that I wanted to get a class ring. The price of one kept me from getting it. My mother didn't have the funds to buy me one either.

I did have a pretty class ring, however, have no idea where it got off too. After 3 marriages and divorces, not much telling. After high school I really didn't wear for long. My s/o just got a suprise a couple of weeks ago, his mom gave him his class ring, he had no idea it was anywhere around. So he has his, he didn't wear his long after graduation either, but then again he doesn't wear any jewelry except for his watch.

I never bought a class ring, mostly because of all the reasons above. It was too expensive for me, and I didn't think I would wear it. I hated high school as well dreamy1, so I also thought, why would I want a ring so I could remember it?

I never even got a class ring, and I bet only about 25% of my class got one. It just wasn't something that got people excited when I graduated back in '02.

Is this a ceremony that happens in America then because I've never heard of a class ring here in the UK. We only ever had books that were sent round for people to write messages in. I hated school it was the worst ever time in my life. Being bullied badly because I was raped is something I would like to forget and having a ring from school would be the worst ever thing I would have probably thrown it away or given it away.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. In the US in the 11th (junior year)grade we get class rings. It has your name, the year of your graduation and a stone can be school colors or whatever color you choose. Mine also has the school mascot which is an eagle. The material can vary, gold is the most expensive, mine is silver because I just got the cheapest one I could get. How it started I don't know. Getting a ring is a pretty old tradition. In my school we had a ceremony it was during school hours but don't ask me what it was about high school for me was over 15 years ago and I forgot. There's also a thing that we do (not sure if all schools do it) that you have to have your ring turned the equivalent of your class year. For example I graduated in 1989 so we'd have anyone we saw turn our ring around our fingers 89 times. I have no clue what that's supposed to mean maybe good luck. In the evening there's a dance to celebrate getting the ring. I guess it's supposed to kind of bond our class together or something and to remember the good times we had (yeah right) I don't know what the custom is now about rings and ceremonies and dances because It's been so long and I don't know any high school age people to ask.

Oh year at the end of the year we did the book to. Usually it was a year book we had everyone sign but people had just plain books as well to write messages. I still have mine.

I never did purchase myself a class ring, I thought they were too expensive when not even precious metal or real gemstones. they never really appealed to me.

I got a class ring. I wore it sometimes in High School. I still have it but never wear it. I graduated in 1996 and don't think it necessary to wear it anymore. Plus, it is yellow gold and pretty much all of the jewelry I wear is white gold now.

I got a class ring, but somewhere along the line I lost it. I think I gave it to a boyfriend to hold onto for some reason and never saw it again. I would like to have it just so my daughter's could see it, but I agree it was a waste of money. I don't have the best memories of high school, so I guess maybe it's for the best that I can't remember what happened to that darn ring.

I've got both my high school ring and my junior high ring. My junior high was a typical bulky ring with a blue stone in it since the school's colors were red and blue. My senior high class ring is more delicate and more feminine. I did wear that a lot, but my parents forced me to wait until Christmas to get it, so I only got to wear it for 4 months, which p*ssed me off. We ordered it in August, but the jeweler kept saying it wasn't in (thanks to my mother calling ahead of time and coaching her what to say). So while everyone else got to wear theirs the full year, I got to wear mine only 4 months. I did wear it a lot after I graduated. It doesn't look like a class ring. This one has an emerald for the stone since emerald is my birth stone.
