My parents dealt with it fairly well, considering that they are quite conservative. And I suppose they always guessed, but instead of telling them, I just pitched up with a bf. A bit of a drastic measure, but they survived. I think it must be tough for any parent, especially knowing that the world at large doesn't really approve. We can only hope that people will grow more tolerant - but I found that tolerance is an attitude adopted, and not really something people are born with.

I am a young mother. My oldest is 6 so I'm sure the generation I am from influences how I view homosexuality. I would embrace my son's decision. I'm quite sure I would be shocked if I had no idea, but I would not look down on him. I would not disown him if this is where you are going. I love my son and it's just like any dating situation, if the person he chooses is a good person, I would give him my blessing. Now, I hope that my saying "blessing" doesn't bring someone to comment on christianity and the Bible. I am aware of the interpretations.
