Before You Ask Me to Sympathize with Illegal Aliens, Read This Letter...

Dear Scott, My purse was stolen... My green card was in it. I called immigration and spoke for several hours, and this is the best that they can do for me. I have to file again from the start. But they will only give me a conditional green card that is valid till November. However, they said that they have such a back log, that the new green card will not arrive at my home until next January. So tell me how a card that expires in November will help me in January!!! But it gets better. In July, I have to file again. This one is to remove the conditions and get a valid green card. I have to do it in July because you have to file 90 days before your old card (that they haven’t sent you yet) expires. To get that card, I have to go through as much as I did when i was trying to get my first ever visa. And the expense will be through the roof. I asked how long it will take to get that card, and all they could say is, sometime next year. I asked why they have such a back log. They said that their immigration agents are dealing with illegal cases, and so the paying people that have done the system honestly have to wait. So not only does it cost me the earth, I am in the line behind the criminals. It's not like any of my details have changed, and the card is only a year old, and I haven't changed. AND, even if the police had my card handed in, it is invalid as soon as it is reported lost, So I still have to go through all this no matter what After reporting a lost card, I have ten days to file for a new one. I have to include the police report with that. However, the police say I will have the report in 14 days!!! They said that if I leave the state, and cross a border, and get pulled over for a random check, that they will detain and deport me. And there I was thinking I was the victim of robbery!!! What was I thinking? Working and paying my taxes, and living honestly and loving this land, and pledging my allegiance to the flag has made me of no more worth to this system the thief that stole my things, or the coyote that smuggles in illegals. Love, Cindy ~~~~~~ This is yet another example of how disgusting the whole immigration service is. They are the ultimate example of the beauracratic robot who doesn't give a crap about anything but perpetuating their jobs (for which they are overpaid). There isn't a person in immigration services that doesn't deserve to be homeless in the Wisconsin cold while everyone who sees them laughs in their pathetic faces and reminds them how much worse they deserve... waterboarding would be too good for them. Seeing how our government treats legal immigrants, don't bore me with how illegal aliens have it bad.

Um, how is that any different than how the government treats regular citizens? There is always a long seemingly unending process to anything you have to do through the government and quite often is is backwards and very in considerate. Since she is on file as having a green card, as soon as they research her, she would not be deported anyway.

But until she gets a valid green card, she can't go do much of anything.. You are right, they have her information on file... so why should she have to be treated like dirt when logic says they just need to print up another card. Illegal aliens are given special treatment and benefits while legal immigrants are spit on and charged thousands for the "honor".

I don't think many illegal immigrants are given special treatment,. In fact I see more of a movement to get the illegals out of our country than anything else. More states are coming down on illegal immigrants very hard. Even if she was a legal citizen with a SSN card, she would have to go through a process that could take 2-3 months. You can't always just get a new card printed automatically.

At least she would get the replacement card Before it expired! I'd like to hear just one of the idiots working for immigration explain why they send a card that has already expired. They are worthless.

A friend married a person fromantoher country and has been trying to do everything right. Filed all the paper work, paid all the fees (several Thousand Dollars so far) and is stillhaving problems with the deadlines. the paper work is in but not processed. One example was a renewal form that had to be filed by November. It was filed in September and retruned rejected in January because ICE changed the date (printing date and nothing else was changed on the form) on the form in October. Immigration and Naturlazation can not share information or even copy it to the other because of privacy issues. They require the same information. They system is designed to creat jobs and political favors for the politicians. I can apply for a credit card and have an answer and reason why I was accepted or rejected within five minutes. Dealing with Immigration is like dealing with Motor Vehicle Dept. If they move slower they get promoted. The more I see on the way government does things the more I would like to turn it over to the privagte sector. A good example is Parcel Post service. You have the government compeating with private companies and people are free to purchase the level of service they want.

Don't worry, not something I'd ask anybody to do. I have no sympathy for illegals in any country. In my opinion, they shouldn't be at the back of the line, there should be no line for them. They should be stuck on a plane or a bus, and sent back from whence they came, and apply legitimately like everyone else.
