I joined up with this site a few weeks ago and have earned 25 points but I am wondering how many points do you have to earn to get something.

I assume you are talking about 'points' gained at the gather.com site you joined ? Well I have been published there for quite some time, I have gained nearly 2200 and as soon as I get to 2500, I can cash those 2500 points in for $50.00 How might I find you at gather . . . ? I am found there at the link below my signature. sharing the light and happy new year, Miss Erica Hidvegi, the Enlightenment_Advisor, B.A. Psych/M.A. Transpersonal Studies- Cnslng/Author, Artist, Photographer, Entrepreneur & Freelance extraordinaire http://www.gather.com/enlightenedpsych2 http://www.gather.com/register.jsp?beamBack=outsideInvite.jsp

Hey mollyrose, the points just tell you how many posts you made. Your earnings you can see to the right. Its not just how many posts you make but the quality of them. Think of a discussion in 'real life' if you hask a simple question that yields a short answwer, that's an exchange. However, if you start a thread talking about an experience you had say, sharing some of yourself and asking for advice or if anyone has similiar experiences - that would encourage longer answers. Or choose questions that get the reader to think and allow them to formulate a longer more quality answer. And to encourage the discussion - answer the person - just as you would in real life, encouraging more info, sharing your own stories, for that's what a discussion is, a conversation. I once made 2.50 in a few hours simply going back and forth on few discussions with one person. We were having actual conversations - discussion. I also make sure to use a lot of tags - that way when people do a search - up top - more people can find your discussion. If you have a discussion that has gone unanswered, pm your friends and let them know about your great discussion and ask if they'd mind stopping in and taking a look. Avoid one word or one sentence answers to other peoople's discussions. Answer in detail, which encourages more discussion. You can even read others responses and if so moved, join in their particular "discussion". I think of mylot like an inteernational dinner party, with many many fascinating guests with interesting things to say. You can enter any discussion being had around the huge dinner table! Corny I know! Others may say the only way to earn is through referrals, I have ten and most have 0-2 posts - you have the most of all my referalls, so I know this isn't true. In December I wasn't on too much so I only made 7.50 last month but I will make dokuble that at least this month. Even though I don't spend as much time here as I was. Good luck mollyrose and if you need any help or have any questions, you're welcome to ask here or PM me.

From memory you need at least 600/700 points to cash in for the least expensive items, which consist of mostly gift certificates... However, if you make more than roughly 3,000 points per month, you are granted the option to cash them in for $50 cash. This is what their website says, and I myself have not cashed mine in at the moment because I am working towards being able to trade my points for the cash, which means I will have to earn around 3,000 per month.

I have the cash option and it is great. You just have to earn about 3,125 in one month and then you get it forever. Thus in months after that you do not have to worry about if you are not able to be too active because you will not lose the option. I love that it also converts all points earned before that month you get 3,000 into cash. I had like $200 by the time I got the cash option and it converted.

Theres no definite amount for any points. As long as you response to all discussion here the more you chance to have more earning here. For me, I focus my attention to how many topic I response and then I leave to mylot how much they value the response I made. And I guarantee you that mylot is fair in term of paying you for what you have got here.

This is a discussion board about a place called gather.com not myLot; therefore your answer is inappropriate here, although informative but wrong location.
