Do facial piercings offend you?

So, I have a nose piercing, and I realize that for work I may have to take it out eventually. But I really love it, it is very small, and I see no reason why I should have to. So my question is, if you see someone else with a facial piercing.. I am not talking about multiple ones... does it offend you? Do you think they should be taken out for employment?

I have never understood why people believe that having a piercing or tattoos immediately makes you unable to do your job. I realize that if you are in a customer service type of industry that some will be put off by your appearance, but to me that's a weird thing to be offended by....of course I am completely biased as I am heavily tattooed and have 4 piercings

they do not offend me.if there were multiple and looked tacky i would probably think you were an idiot, but a little diamond nose stud looks cute.i suppose it depends on your employer as to what they think is suitable for work.my daughter has no problem with her employers and hers is a little nose stud and a stud on her lip.she actually works for a rather large corporation.cheers sue

Yeah, see I am not talking about multiple piercings that are "tacky" I am talking about a small discrete piercing. I mean.. I have a nose stud as well.. so tiny that you really don't even see it unless the light reflects off it a certain way. And yet, it still offends some people. I don't see why.. as I said in an above comment, I don't understand how it's any different than piercing your ears! Thanks for the reply!

doesnt offend me in the slightest. i have a sister and brother that have mutliple piercings and tatts. i only have 1 tatt myself, though thats due to money and not lack of wanting more lol! i THINK that most ppl get offended by tatts and piercings cause they themselves would never want one of their own..and instead of being open to the idea that OTHER ppl do want them, they just assume that something must be wrong with that person. since they are "normal" (yeah right) did that make any sense?

They don't offend me but I don't think their appropriate in some jobs. I wouldn't want to go to a lawyers office and have the receptionist having piercings all over her face. I think ppl should think about how it will look on the job as well. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Frankly, if I were the employer, I would discourage any form of facial piercing...so with body tattoes and the like. I'd just reserve to myself the personal reason, but companies would rather have 'clean' employees, especially if you're employed in a school, hospital, banks or even government offices...I read that it is a 'no-no'...one company I know does not accept employees with body tattoes, and will have them removed before you are even considered an applicant. Unfair? But that's the policy for some companies although I think there are some which are more tolerant and may allow those...in our place, facial piercing is uncommon and is therefore not yet acceptable....at least in the university I am connected with, I'm sure it is strictly prohibited, not only for its employees, but even to students....

how does having a piercing or tattoo make you "unclean"? I don't mean to be rude, I just have a hard time understanding that type of logic. Why don't we just stifle all attempts at individuality and have everyone look and dress alike?

I myself am somewhat curious as to what you mean by unclean? I wonder where that comes from because I have heard it from more than just your post. Just curious as to the logic behind it. I just don't understand why it is any different than having your ears pierced... and to some piercings is part of their culture... so I don't understand why a small discrete piercing would be offensive. Thanks for the reply!

Each person does what wants...but not always what she wants is good for her. I believe our body is the temple of God and in the bible says: Dont make marks on the body. Logical ...God is good . dont worry. Analyzing ...:I am not offended!! I just think it is ugly lololol Looking from the point of view of business;- If wou want to have a career of success is not smart to be working with piercing.
