I know most people today have high-end cell phones, who put most 90's computers to shame. :) But what was the very first mobile phone you had? I remember mine was Nokia 5110. I as only 12 at the time I got it, in 2000, but I was so happy then, I remember carrying it everywhere I went, even at school. It was a brick, but that didn't bother me. :))

nokia - my first cell phone
My first cell phone was a nokia analog. I had the said cell phone unit in 1998. It was not text capable and it could not identify numbers of people calling me.:D

LOL so if you didn't see the number calling, what was shown on the display at that time? :)) Wierd, but nice anyway, it looked pretty cool, and slick.

Nice topic. It brings back old memories. My very first mobile phone was a Nokia 3310. It used to be my dad's but the company gave him a better one so he gave it to me. I was about 12 then. I was so happy. Cell phones weren't that common then so I had bragging rights. lol. My favorite game on it was Snake. It was fun trying to fill in the whole box. The classic one's better than the modern 3D Snake game for me. Sigh, flashbacks. What was your favorite game in your old cellphone?

Lol I used to be a snake fanatic too. :P I'd waste hours at school trying to beat my own high score. And yes snake 1 rules! It's harder than the new games...

My first mobile phone was an Alcatel phone that I bought in 1995. It was the worse mobile phone that I have ever had. The size is big that it would look really odd in your pocket and the battery would only last not more than a day on standby and only a few hours if you use it for normal calls. The phone that I am using now is a Sony Ericcson K530i and this phone is leaps and bounces compared to that Alcatel phone.

These were the biggest problems plaguing mobiles in the beginning: size/weight and battery time. Thankfully stuff changed since then. :)

wow you were 12 when you got your first mobile phone! That's so young, lucky you. I was 18 when my mom finally gave in and bought me my first mobile phone, which was the nokia 8210 which I used for a few years after that.

Well I didn't catch the pre-digital area, but from what i've heard and read analog mobiles didn't have much battery life. :) And yes sms was something new and cool back then, and still is.

but still you see how technology advances quite fast...from a one liner sms phone to the four liner one's and to the colored phones then to the camera phones and now the 3g phones with high pixels....but nothing is gonna beat the sms technology it has been here for such a while that no matter what kind of phone model sprout sms is still in there....

Hehe, I have a k750 too.. also for about 2 years. And even though it looks like it's been in a warzone... I still like it :o) It's one of the best phones, from my part. I'm planning to get another phone to replace it... but i'm not giving it away, i'll keep it as backup, it really means a lot to me. :)

My first phone was a Motorola CDMA phone. In Singapore, we are all on GSM now. Even then there were few plans/phones catering to CDMA which is supposed to be better (I think). But somehow, things did not catch on and CDMA was ultimately phased out in favor of GSM here.

My first phone was one of those Motorolla bag phones it was bulky and a big pain. I hated that phone! It was hard to hear on it too. I am glad that phones are a nice size to carry with you now instead of having to leave them in your car.
