Our poor newscaster has almost no voice

She is trying so hard at the moment to make it through the newscast, but her voice is very scratchy and it is even cutting out at times. I had been wondering why she hadn't been on for several days, and now I know why. But she is such a trooper...she's been with the local station for years now, and I just love her take on some of the stories. Have any of you seen newscasters struggling to make it through their show? Or have any of you seen some that just plain have a hard time talking at all (they seem to have their tongues tangled up in their teeth LOL)?

It is not worth it to go to work while still recovering from a cold. She has laryngitis and she cannot speak. It is not about being a trooper, it is about being foolish. They should have gotten a substitute newscaster instead of forcing her to come back to work. Most of the newscasters I have listened to have been good and never had any trouble except maybe making jokes about funny things that they reported or had seen or heard on their shows.

I've seen that quite often, when they've obviously had a bad cold or allergies or when they've been on locations for a big news story for many, many hours straight in all kinds of bad conditions. We all tend to think the life of a newscaster or any journalist is very "glamorous" but there's a lot more hard work and sacrifice involved than most of us realize. I've gotten a good laugh now and then when one of them seem to have a day when they can't seem to talk right! To me that only shows their human side and makes them easier to identify with.

Yes, I have heard one of the weathermen forecast when he was hoarse. He was really struggling. What I think it funny is when one of them coughs without any warning and they try to cover it up. The cough might continue and then the two morning news people will start laughing. Eventually they have to cut away to a commercial.
