Yes, and i'm using Centos more secure than fedora. Centos is based from RHEL :). But for more secure, better you use FreeBSD. Mostly i'm using Centos for all my webserver, windows based webserver unstable and eat a lot of resources.

I'm using Windows XP Pro. I just install Apache for windows and DNS updater cuz my ip is dynamic. Its easy to setup but easy to crash. What I mean is that problem occurs when theirs to many visitors in your site and using your server at the same time. I also want to use Linux but i'll go back from scratch, I don't know how to us Linux OS. sad --- ^^,

Using linux is quite easy, I know very little about it, yet I have managed to build a web server with apache that supports 2 different domains and sub domains. I also run a mail server on it, so, it really cannot be that hard. There are complete how to guides out there. I am so impressed with Linux as a server as in my case it runs on a PC that I had to stop using Win XP on as it was too slow. The second very impressive thing is that you never have to boot it after making a change, if fact after I first got it up and running, it ran and ran for months with no intervention, when I needed to expand it's use I couldn't remember the root password!

Ubuntu Server version. 100% Free If you want to run windows server , your looking at over 500$ for a copy of it. Not cheap what so every , but then linux is not easy to install or configure as windows is. What kind of experience do you have? I would still suggest ubuntu , if you have any problems with it , go on their forum and ask for help. You said web server , do you mean you want to run a site off your computer? If so its illegal to run a websever on most residential internet services. I would check your ISP before running the server.

I would never personally run a MS server under any circumstances. I have a Slackware box running Apache/mySQL/PHP/cPanel. Works great for myself and clients :D

I use Fedora Core with apacahe. I understand that apache can run on windows, so, people may be doing that. Why? I don't know when Linux is free and Windows Server is certainly not! Thing I like about linux is that I run my server on a Pentuim II 400mhz PC, which would be totally useless under windows.

When i think apache on windows, i cringe to think how unstable it can be!, I ran slackware linux on a P1 266mhz with 8mb ram at one stage! It ran perfect, it was a bit slow at mysql commands but as a general http web server it was perfect!
