If I buy a DVD Recorder to copy home movies from VHS tapes taken on my camcorder, will they be playable on ANY TV? I have digital camera that has 15 second setting for a movie. I copied them from the camera to my PC and from there, copied the movie clips to a DVD. I played this DVD on my PC nad it was fine. I played it on my living room DVD player/TV and it didn't play. I played it on my upstairs DVD player and TV and it played. I gave it to my daughter, and it didn't play on hers. So... question... why not? Why didn't it play on all TV's? DVD players were relatively new. So.. if I buy a DVD Recorded to copy my family movies from VHS, will they or won't they play on any TV? ANd if not, how can I get them to?

From what I understand there are some that play in some DVDs and some that don't. Also the kind of DVD also appears to have something to do with I guess some are DVD+ some are DVD- and that seems to affect what kind of DVD players can play them or not. Also how old or new the DVD is also seems to have something to do with it - I have some that play only on the old DVD, some that play on both and some that play only on the new one.

I have a feeling that is what I am up against. Why so complicated!!!! By the time I figure it out, DVD's will be outdated and won't play anyway!

You need to burn the DVD in DVD movie format which you can do from Nero. It is supposed to work then.

I do not have a clue as to why it does not work. I know that my grandpa had a similar problem with some old home movies that my uncle copied to DVD for him last year. He could not get them to play on his DVD player, but they worked just fine on my DVD player. These movies were originally on a real though. Not sure if it would be similar in reason or not.
