feel free to do so in here as I am very interested in your thoughts about us and our great country. Bring back the good old days where one could say something without offending someone to the extent that goes on in society ALL the time now. "Turn the other cheek" makes a good way of thinking and makes a better person of one, instead of taking it all as an offense. I am an Aussie and very proud of it, but if I had the control I would send packing those who do not respect our country quick smart.

Yes I agree, and all the hooha over a game of sport is worse than school kids, I think if grownups can not behave like grownups and give enjoyment in the game and enjoy the game themselves then stop the game altogether...

Oh yes I know what you are talking about, slagging as bad as it is has always been a part os sport, I don't agree with it but it has always secretly been there its just now that discrimination always comes into it but from what I see it is very lopsided in sport, what I mean about that is when white slags black, white is a horrible person, they are racist, but when black slags white then white is horrible for complaining, this happens in international sports as well as in Aussie rules football....sad really.

I am not a born and bred Aussie, but have become one! Having experienced the HOOHA and growing up with the taunts that are inflicted readily and freely, paints a picture of inhrent attitudes. The "them against us attitudes" is pushed by the media to increase spending and public participation , and then they wonder why things get out of hand. For the "new Australians who try to cling onto and promote their "culture", go back home if you like your old way of life so much! Why come to another country to live a better life bringing their hostile, self-important, "my beliefs are better than your's" attitudes with them.... geeeesss!! I mean okay, "we are more civilized" is a common fall back excuse for non-action by governments, but as in soooo many cases.... non-action is an action in itself! The governments lavish these unhappy "with our life style and beliefs" soles with our taxes while our own people suffer! I'm with you... if they are not happy with our way of life either get over it or go home!

Hi All, I am a proud 5th generation Aussie & agree with most of the comments in this thread. I do like our multicultural diversity & the changes brought about by immigration after WW2. Most of those people & their offspring now consider themselves Aussies whereas some of more recent immigrants have no wish to assimilate but just want to wrought our system for all they can get with the view to returning to their home country with enough wealth to live a better lifestyle. I agree that if they don't wish to become part of our culture they should be sent back immediately!

Aussies are OK... it is a culture. Every country has it's own culture. We have some 140 different nationalities in Australia. Everyone of them bring their own culture with them. We want people to respect our laws and integrate as much as possible. But they will never forget about where they come from... They will take what they like about Australia... and what they like about their own culture... and blend the two. It is not only Australia which has a problem with multi-culturalism these days. The whole of the Western World has the same problem. Don't blame the people who come here... blame the government who invites them to come here.
