How do PTC sites work?

I was wondering, how do the Pay to Click sites work? Do they just supply a list of links, and you click? Can you get viruses from clicking the links? Do you have to actually fill out forms and join the offers, or do you just...click? Any help would be appreciated, and if you know of a good one that has a good cash payout, message me with the link please? Thanks. :)
