My cat had kittens back in November and they are now old enough to leave their mom and I have been finding homes for them. I got rid of the first one yesterday and ever since, my cat has been pacing the house crying and looking for her baby. I feel sooo bad!!!! Is their anyone who has been through this before that can tell me how I can comfort her? How long will it be before she forgets about her baby? I feel so bad that I could just cry. :( On top of all that, there is someone on their way to my house right now to get another one. :(

I went through what you're describing once. It was Summer and Cassidy used to like to lay with her three kittens under a bush at the end of the drive. I found a home for all three and took them from her. She spent the next several days prancing up and down the drive meowing for her kittens. It broke my heart but fortunately, it didn't last more than a week. I really wished I could have kept those kittens as well as their mama but I couldn't and I did find them a good home. Hang in there, they get over it.

hi there, queenlove... don't feel bad... she'll get over them, i'm sure. as long as you know the kittens will be taken good care of by their owners, then there's nothing to worry about. incidentally, my only pet cat, Majzhai, has been missing since last night. the neighbors said he must have followed a she-cat he's courting. I've been calling for him the whole day, I left him his snacks outside by the door, still he hasn't come home... :( if Majzhai doesn't return, i'll have space for a new kitten. perhaps you could send one of your male kittens to me through courier... *wink*

Its seperation anxiety, it's natural, the only thing u can really do is just continue to love (pet, hold, talk to) your cat...she will be ok....you might consider havin her fixed though so that in the future neither your cat nor you have to go through it again.....just my opinion....smile it will be ok

I also have a female cat that keeps on giving birth to kittens. It's 3 everytime. She already gave birth for like 3 times and we always find a new home for the kittens. Its natural for them to search to their kittens. Just give it a couple of days, she will forget. Maybe you got gave it away prematurely. As long as the mother keeps on letting the kittens suckle, you should not separate them. A time will come when the kittens are old enough that their mother would not let them suckle anymore, that's the right time to give them away. And that's when you will not hear the mother looking for her kittens with that child-like crying voice.

She'll get over it eventually. She's used to having them around her, but she'll be fine. Maybe get her a small stuffed toy to "take care of" once they are all gone. I do hope you are screening the homes very carefully and not just giving the kittens away to the first person who asks. That's how animals get sold to vivisection labs, get fed to snakes and used as target practice. Then get the mother spayed so this won't happen again.

If i was you i think taht i would feel bad too, but if you dont want all those kittens roaming around your house then you did the right thing and you did what you had to do. You gotta find homes for them. She will forget about the kittens eventually, i'm not sure how long it will take. You should get fer fixed as soon as possible so you dont have to go through that ordeal again! I always had a hard time giving the kittens away myself, because they are just so darn cute. I know they grow up, but still they are cute right now in the moment!!
