Have you had good or bad experience calling technical support?

When you come across a computer or electronic problem like from your digital camera or cell phone - do you tend to look it up to find out how to fix the problem or do you call technical support for assistance? And for those that have had called - how many of you were satisfied? Did the tech help you or did you get the reach around? How many of you had just a one call resolution or those that had to call multiple times that you got so frustrated you had to speak with the manager?

Search the net for answers many times the best support is in forums, not even in the company site. That usually will do.
Calling is almost certain waste of time and sometimes money. I did for a cell phone and couldn't get it solved after many calls.
