I'm sure a lot of you have seen these interesting books, Dragonology, Egyptology and so on. My daughter got the whole collection of Wizardology for Christmas including the board game. I have to say it's a pretty awesome, strategic game that the whole family enjoys, including my youngest 8 year old daughter who gets bored easily.
First of all, you can play up to 6 players which beats the normal 4. We only have two children but we often have friends over so this will resolve the odd man out! The object of the game is to go through a maze gathering ancient spells and dragon spells along the way. Once you become a true Wizard Master, you must free Merlin to win the game. However, someone might learn a certain spell and switch place with you at any time. This keeps everyone on their toes. The kids are learning quite a few strategies to stay on top of their opponents. The only downfall for this game is that it does require a few hours to play although we have altered the rules one time to keep the game under an hour (After all, kids do need their sleep!)
We have played this game 3 times in the last 4 days and no one is bored of it yet. Hubby and I have collected board games for family entertainment however as the kids get older, it's been a challenge to keep their interest. This one, I'm sure will continue to be a family favourite for a while!

The books are not the game, however there is a board game you can purchase. I'm now checking to see if they have board games for the other books, especially Egyptology. Wishing you hours of fun!

Oh okay. Either way I was thinking about getting the books. My son is really into pirates, dragons andwhat not and I love anything Egypt based. The books look like something that you would buy for your kid that they would treasure forever.

Absolutely. There is tons of information in each one of them. They didn't cheap out on these! On the inside cover, the child must sign a promise to keep the book safe and secrets must only be revealed to those you trust. heehee I think it's really cute!

That does sound really good! I saw the game in a store recently and thought it looked like fun. It was rather expensive though so we didn't pick it up. I'll have to ask for it for my birthday later this month as I'm always looking out for fun new games.

Expensive? lol They can be! Like I mentioned above, we collect board games and last night we went to purchase Axis and Allies ($49.95) but they were out. We were interested in Railroad Tycoon (the board game, not the computer game) It was $79.95, so back to the shelf it went! We'll still purchase it someday but I need to save for that one LOL

Sounds cool. We used to play board games when my kids were little but they always fought so it was not always that fun. I could live the rest of my life without ever hearing "you cheated..."

oh no bad bad words! I hope they've outgrown that phase. Try playing cards to start and see if they are ready for bigger and better board games!

Sounds like fun. We are always looking for games to play with our kids, but they are younger 11 7 and 2 it might be good for our older 2 so i will have to keep the game in mind next time i am out shopping for them.

yeah 2 years old is a little young :) and there are tons of little bitty pieces. Might be a good game during nap time or special staying-up-late weekends!
