Sewer Ice

I have a sewer drain at the edge of my driveway. When it gets warm and the snow etc melts & it needs a place to run. So I have to use my ice breaker to break it up so the drain is opened up for the flow of the water. Otherwise it builds up at the end of my driveway. This causes a huge dam of ice making it slippery and dangerous for those that walk their dogs daily past my house. I have asked the city about them coming to clear it of leaves, ice etc at all times of the year. they stated it is my responisibility to keep it clean. So if I get damage from the water etc running into my yard etc it is my fault and not the city's. HAHAHA! Talk about getting off easy huh? Anyhow, this is just another aspect of winter "yard" work. I classify it as such so it doesn't really seem like a chore or work. HAHAHA!!

Ahhhhhhh...so that's what kind of 'yard' work your doing in the snow. You had me going there for a bit. Thankfully, I don't have storm drains or sewers to worry about. Just the over-flowing creek that turns my property into an island whenever we get a lot of rain/melting snow.

Bummer. I am glad I don't have a creek nearby. Attracts too many skeeters in the summer. HAHAHAHA! I hate them biters.

I can't plant shrubs within 15 feet of the curb either. The neighbor has bushes planted in the middle of his yard as thats the closest to the street allowed. Ughhh!

yup.they told us that too.
appearently we're also responsible to clean up the near half ton of sand they dump every year in winter..but they never said what to do with said sand.
*shrug*
i put it in my driveway.better than having a sandbar in the sidewalk drain :)

I am glad we do not have to put up with sewer ice. The worst thing I have to deal with is the neighbors grapefruit falling off her tree and rolling into my gutter and my driveway. The other day a grapefruit was at the end of the block which is three houses down. I cannot believe what escape artists those grapefruit are.
