We watch those commercials on TV how tasty, juicy and good those whoppers and other burgers are advertised in Burger King. But did you happen to know that this fast food place contains one of the highest amounts of calories, fat grams and carbohydrates? Of course the food feels good when it goes down and the taste is great, but don't realize that a lot of fat and grease later on grows and develops bigger problems in the long run. Here are some nutrition facts of a chart from Burger King: The Whopper or Double Whopper averages from 800-1,000 Calories, 45-60 Fat Grams and 47 Grams of Carbohydrates. Now the average calories of hamburgers range from 450-650 Calories, 30-50 Fat Grams and 40-60 in Carbohydrates. On the chart this place is not very healthy to eat and not have I found that they do serve salads.

Its not just the burger, it's also the mayo type sauce they put on them. Of course then there is the lovely fries that are really fried in lard and the milkshake, don't forget the shake. One meal is more calories than the average person is supposed to eat in a day. Thats without figuring out how bad those calories are. Don't forget to super size it!!

I believe I mentioned that it was more calories than the average person should eat in ONE DAY!!!! Not just one meal. As far as the salt and fat and all that other good stuff well they just go hand in hand. You do not have to live on salads to be healthy. In fact, that is not the optimum diet for many people. You have to have protein in order to keep your muscles hair and skin healthy. Protien also staves off hunger the longest, so when you are on a diet, it is very useful. You also need some fat in your diet. But everything in moderation. Not all in one meal. And not in those proportions. And even Burger King has its place, like once a year for a splurge. We are human after all. I am a dairy vegetarian and have been off and on all of my life, but I cheat now and then. And I do not feel guilty. I do not cheat at Burger King. I save my calories for the good stuff, like a big seafood platter, but that is my choice.

Prepare yourselfs mortals for now it shall become very ugly. Lets say you were very hungry and walked into one of Burger King's restaurants and order an XL Bacon Double Cheeseburger with large fries, a large coke and one apple pie with ice cream. Lets se what your body probably will get after you are finished eating you sh.. i mean food. Theese figures are everything added together, or what the entire meal consists of. If you want to know the individual values i will write it after the main sum, the order is Hamburger (1), coke (2), fries (3) and last pie with ice cream (4). We all know the facts about these sort of places but they will always have customers as no matter what they tell us if it tastes good then we will buy it no matter what the after effect may be.

No - they don't know the facts - if they did it would make people more cautious about what to consume in their bodies. For how many years I've lived where yeah I was in the crowd of yeah this food taste good, but didn't realize what really was going on in my body.

If you're over the age of about 10, you know that fast food isn't healthy.

A burger king whooper & a mcdonald's big mac are pretty similar in fat & calories. I'm sure Wendy's bacon-ator is right up there too. Anyone with half a brain should know that you can not eat those foods frequently & expect to be thin or healthy (not that thin & healthy are the same thing- but expect neither from a fast food diet). Most fast food places do have some healthy choices, but that's not what we go there for. We go there because we're in a rush or we have a craving or our kids want to run around the indoor playground. As long as it's an occasional indulgence there's nothing wrong with it.

It is no secret that fast food is bad for your health. Some people just don't care. I know that the burger and fries are bad for me, but sometimes I want to eat them anyway. Some people(me included) at time just want something that tastes good.

Just about ALL "fast food" places are loaded with calories and fat. But it is just the convience of them I guess that draws ppl. When you are working/running errands, you dont always have time to make healthy choices, and then we pay for it later.

Wow, and how little we think about what we eat eh. Thanks for making us more aware, we have a burger king near my work and I often grabed something for lunch from there with out even giving it a though since it was quick. I will think about it now though. Great discussion.

Fast food isn't exactly health-food, so I don't eat it every day. It does taste good, and it's nice to have when I am on the road and need to stop to eat. A lot of times my husband and I have stopped at McDonald's or Burger King because we've been on he road, and wanted food ast, but i we want to really go out for dinner and it is planned, we will go to a restaurant that servs healthier food.

Sad, Sad but true. Man I wish I could afford to open a healthy fast food place. That was convenient & not expensive. I desperatly wanna lose weight but it is SOOO hard. The healthy stuff is spendy and doesnt fill me up. I used to be able to eat whatever I wanted but after having 2 kids that went out the window.

Yikes! I know it applies to almost every burger in town! I love eating at burger king but that could be like twice a month only because I prefer to eat homemade foods, you know how it goes herre. I avoid eating out everytime for health reasons. It's more junk than junk foods in terms of the calories and the fat you intake. But it's okay to eat out once in a while.

Honestly, I think *most* of us know what we are stuffing into our mouths when we eat there. I know that each of those wonderful burgers shortens my life span by a few micro seconds. But I don't think people should stop eating there. In fact, quite the opposite. It is about freedom. Freedom to eat the way we want for what reasons we want. We shouldn't all adopt healthy diets. If you honestly want to live to 80 it is well within your rights, but you healthy people have loud voices and our tiny meat eating, fat loving, sugar consuming mouths can't keep up. Sure it is healthy to eat grain and fruits and what not, but some of us prefer to enjoy our time, and find eating tasty food is a big key to happiness. Dan

Wow, that is alot to take in. We as comsumers never really think about the calorie thing when we are ordering. I don't like Burger Kings Food well the hamburgers in particular they just never suited my taste buds. I am more a McDonalds person but even though they do have more healthy choices alot of people doesn't take them. I always go for the big mac with fries and a coke. They are comericals out their warning consumers about the dangers of over indulging in fast food resturants. A bag of chips easier consumed if your in front of a television without thought of the calories yor eating and the pop it can add up to over 2,000 calires in a setting and some consider that a snack sometimes. I do think that they should have signs up with warnings about the health dangers one can get from consuming these foods.

I was very lucky I guess to marry a cook. Every once in awhile we when we are away from our home we will stop at a fast food place. The city that we live in there's only 1 Burger King. Can't count the Mcdonalds, Wendy's and other food places. Honestly I really don't like eating fast food, it doesn't agree with my stomach. Since my husband cooks, I rather eat that, and have left overs than waste money and have nothing to show for it.

I do eat at Burger King sometimes, but please don't tell me to give up my flame-broiled burgers and fries. Actually, many people (me included) are well aware that fast foods sold in Burger King, McDonalds, KFC, etc. contain large amounts of carbo, fats and sodium but it is hard to wane this urge to eat fast food occasionally. Fast food is not called junk food for no reason, but over the years, these restaurants have tried to make their food healthier and provide more greens and various types of salads in their menu. I guess if one eats fast foods in moderation, it is not so bad. After all, other types of food can be unhealthy as well, and we also eat these in our diet. So moderation is the key to eating more healthily.

yes i know about fast food is not very healthy especially if you come so oftne as some people declare!!personally i never eat something on burgerking before..but i was in a mcdonald's as well but i was in this fast food just few time so normally i don't eat food of high calories content and fat and even when i was at mcdonald's just take a big mac and coke nad stop!!so i think if somebody likes very much fast food should control that such as they can go but just sometimes and take something but if you come there veryday or 2-3 times per week surely it is not a good diet because in all products, even salads, are full of fat and calories and so when you come overweight is much more difficult to loose it!

Everyone knows how much fat these foods contain i think. Well not only Burger King, but all fast food restaurants that base at burger have huge amounts of calories in their meals. Even the spaghetti based cold salads have many calories, because they create the various sauces for them. Well, i avoid eating fast food anyway, but i guess not everyone can cook just every single day, so at some time you might need to have a fast meal. All we need to do about it is eat with cautiousness...no-one forces us to choose these. Sure they are tasty, but they are unhealthy too.

I used to prefer Burger King over the other fastfood places, but, they(like all the rest) have slowly reduced the size of their portions, decreased quality and raised prices. Therefore, I tend to keep away from them. As to calories, I am lucky that it doesn't seem to matter how much I eat, my weight and build stay the same. But, I like to try and eat healthy, so, I will not even be thinking of stopping there from now on.
