These days you find a variety of sugar substitutes in the market, claiming to aid weight loss, and the such. They claim to be more calorie friendly, and some popular cookery shows infact advocate their use. But recently i heard that such artificial sugar substitutes do not for that matter help in weight loss. Moreover, they are 200 to 700 times sweeter than natural sugar and may interfere with the brains ability to judge natural sweetness. It seems, Aspartame, a sugar sugar substitute, could turn out harmful, when mixed with yellow food colouring! But other natural sugar substitutes like stevia, made from a plant, and Tagatose, made from lactose, may be safer alternatives. But the best method to curb your sweet tooth would be to indulge in fruits, which even fill you up without any probable side effects!

I have heard that aspartame is very unhealthy substitute....I would stick with the fruits and i know it is very hard because i have a sweet tooth myself...I also put a slice of lemon in my water to keep me and my kids away from the kool aid...my kids love it and it is said to benefit alot of things...i'm not sure what i have never researched it but things like weight loss and it benefits your skin as well....hope that helps
