I have always wanted to go to the Grand Canyon, and this year I thought was my time.
My mother in law was giving me the trip as a Christmas Gift. We were leaving from her house in New Mexico the day after Christmas, and driving up to visit the canyon, and then staying the night and doing some small hikes and going shopping in some of the little towns and just having a great time.
We got up the next morning, and I walked into the kitchen to find her still in her robe. When I asked how come she wasn't dressed and she said...They closed Interstate 40 because of the snow storm that came through during the night.
I was so disappointed!
Have you ever gotten a trip cancelled due to the weather? What happened?

oh no! that's as bad as not getting to go in the first place isn't it?
I remember being so sick one year when we were on vacation in California. It was the day we were supposed to go to Disney Land, and I'd waited all week to go and then got up that morning sick as a dog.

the first Christmas that Mike's parents moved to New Mexico and we drove out there, I was soooo sick. We left little Rock, and by the time we got to fort smith abouot 3 hours awaay, I was puking. Mike had to do all the driving himself because I was laying down in the back seat of the van begging God to just let me die...LOL

We do have some blizzards here, but not recently. I have heard of friends of ours who could not make it, but since at that time, a few years ago, my husband was working, there was no need for us to go anywhere. We never had to cancel a trip because usually we did not go out of town in the winter, since we did not have enough money to go to someplace warm. There was no need to go to Saskatchewan from Manitoba in winter since it was just as cold.

this wasn't really a blizzard, just sevearl inches of snow. The part of the road that was closed was one that went over a rather rough patch of mountain terrain and it wasn't safe for people to cross the pass.
