I don't mean get drunk in front of your children of course, I just mean, will you have a glass of wine or beer in front of them. Do you think it glorifies drinking in your children's eyes? I'm just curious because every so often my husband and I will have a glass of wine with dinner and I always wonder if it is inappropriate.

Absolutely not! My two oldest have seen some very bad things from their biological father drinking and there is no way that I would ever put that fear of what he did to them in them by letting them see me drink....of course, that is if i drank. I quit drinking four years ago, although i never drank to get drunk most of the time. I never did it in front of my children or while my children were even in the house. It was usually when they were away for the night and I knew that they were okay and not coming home. i think it's wrong though to drink in front of a child. That is not something that any parent should want their child thinking is okay by any means. That is my opinion though. Thanks for sharing this discussion and God bless

I totally get your reasoning. If I was in a situation that was unbearable, I probably would not drink either, especially if it brought back horrible memories for my kids. Just think of all the calories you are saving not drinking:) Take care!

I don't think there is anything wrong with it. It doesn't teach children to be drunk lushes. As long as you don't walk around slobbering drunk, I can't imagine why it would glorify anything. As long as you teach your kids not to drink before they are old enough and for darn sure not to drink and drive, have a glass or a can.

I will never allow myself to do it on purpose. Not until they've come of age to know and be able to comprehend the responsibility that comes along with drinking. Its not a good example to their very young mind.

I enjoy a drink in the evenings and usually have a glass of wne once I have settled my little one who is three, but with my two eldest I have always at Christmas time and special ocassions let them have a taste and maybe allowed them a bucks fizz. Both are grown and are able to drink legally now, but because I have always allowed in moderation have never had any problems with them going out and being what in UK are bus stop drinkers (kids on neat vodka behaving badly) On ocassion they have seen me a bit merry but never to their detriment.
