well it's the new year and one of my goals this year is to own a car. i've not started on how to get it but i've a few options. my first and only probable option is to negotiate with my employer. hah! as if that's easy huh? next option, save up for it. hah! as if that were easier, ayt? and last option is to get a loan. which i doubt i'll have the nerve to do. but right now, a second-hand, in good running condition car will do. any sponsors??

Hi Chari! I just bought a new Honda Civic last may (my first car!! woohoo!) So this is fresh on my mind. First and foremost, know what you are going to buy! Do not walk into a car dealership unprepared. There are a few tools you can use to help you do this. The internet helped me the most. After a little searching, the site I found most helpful was carbuyingtips.com That site really contains every single thing you need to know about buying or leasing a new or used car. It helped me negotiate my car price around 3,000 AND they even threw in the accessories :) Don't be scared of getting a loan. Just make extra careful that you pay attention to the interest rate and the life of the loan. If they tell you your monthly payment is only 140 bucks, but it's over 5 years, it adds up. Also, when discussing the price of the car, only negotiate the FINAL COST. Never negotiate the monthly cost. If there's anything else I can answer, I'd be MORE than happy to help you out!
