Decoupage medium, or glue and water?

Which do you prefer, and why? If you use glue and water, what is your ratio? I use glue and water- usually about 1 part glue to 2 parts water, because it works just as well as decoupage medium and is much cheaper.

I might have to look into using glue and water. For my online sales however, I have to continue using decoupage medium, as has been in all of my polymer clay descriptions and I don't want to switch now. For fun crafting around the house, it would save me a lot of money to go with a glue and water mix. Good idea and great thread!
