Marion Jones has been sentenced to six months in prison for her steroid use and lying about it. I'm not starting this to debate how wrong she was to lie and cheat; I couldn't agree more about that. What I would like to discuss is if putting her in prison is really necessary or appropriate. She's been stripped of her medals, she's been publicly humiliated, she's lost everything she worked for. I'm not saying she shouldn't have, but what will be accomplished by putting her in prison? Shouldn't we be saving the room in our over-crowded prisons for violent criminals instead of filling them with those guilty of "victimless crimes"? Annie

I didn't realize that she was sent to jail for this. There are celebrities who drive drunk and served a day in jail for their crime. What justice is that?

Save the jail for hardened criminals. Sure she should be punished but not jail. Let her do community service, pay a fine, etc. There are more effective punishments for her than jail.

I think they have more important things to be concerned with and that was a little steep. Our prisons are already overcrowded and there are worse criminals that need to be there. Boy, what would our prisons would be like if they started doing that to politicians. They are always doing that, she has been punished enough in my opinion.

I still think she's gorgeous!! Such a lovely smile and a really nice temprement. And those legs - wow! I have a fantasy about them! haha Ok, she's been caught 'smoking in the cycle sheds' but hey, 90% of the Eastern block and all of China and the Far East are on enhancing muti of one sort or another. Jail just seems over the top.

She didn't really hurt anyone, but it is a bad example for kids everywhere. Make her pay a fine. They need to spend more time teaching criminals how to get ahead without following old destructive patterns.

I was reading about that and I have to agree that this was a bit much. I mean the only life she put in danger was her own. Unlike all these drunk driving celebrities who only spent a fews minutes in jail, but risked other peoples lives. I do not want to play the race card here, but it is the only thing that I am coming up with. She has definitely suffered enough. Plus, she has to do 800 hours of community service.
