Ok so by now you all know my struggles with sending my daughter to school. She went today and yesterday, with only one little meltdown this morning. So I thought this would merit a special treat. School schedules are weird in NB and my kids are home by lunch time on Fridays. I served them both a plain ol' boring sandwich and then surprised them with a special desert! Waffles topped with ice cream, sliced strawberries and chocolate syrup! I made sure I made it clear it was a Being Good Going To School Desert!

I'm sorry you are having struggles with your daughter going to school. I didn't know about it. That does sound like a great desert. I've never tried it but have heard of people eating waffles with toppings for desert. I eat waffles with maple syrup only. Might add a little bit of butter also. Now I am hungry for waffles...lol Glad it all worked out today and your daughter went to school.

OH yeah Waffles go with a lot of things! Another desert my kids can't get enough off is putting whip cream with slices of fruit (strawberries) in the center of a crepe. Fold sides of crepe towards the middle. Add the ice cream, more sliced fruit (bananas), whip cream, chocolate or butterscotch syrup and you can't forget the cherry on top. I've done it before with fruit only and they went enjoyed it just as much! Hope you got your waffle fix! LOL

MMMM!That was a nice treat mommy! What time does school start where you are? Here it starts at 8 am and is done at 2 pm.My daughter starts preschool this fall and i find almost 6 hours of being in school for a beginner whos not even in grade 1 till 2009 is long!:[They seem to start them off at a young age, like ripping them from our arms and they are still little. Its like they try to get them to grow up too fast, even if some are more than ready for it. Peanutjar:)

Your joking right?Haha, here the school said it is and they have to go to pre-school one year before they start garde 1 and also said its the law.I called the government of schooling whatever its called and they said they had had to go to pre-school a year before they start into grade 1,i tried to get out of it by thinking how i could beat the system and found now way....so far.My daughter is turning 5 in february and that means she will be 5 12 when she starts re-school this fall and also be 6 1/2 for grade 1!!Its crazy!!If i was to start her in grade one then it should be this fall at age 5 1/2 not 6 1/2.How do you know its not mandatory for pre-school?

A lot of parents don't know that school is not mandatory in Canada until grade 1. So if you're not ready to send your child, you really don't have to!

That is a good idea. Have a special dessert every Friday, but only if they didn't get you grief all week. I would make it clear, that they are to not fight about going to school every day, not just one or two days and then they can get a special treat on Fridays..:)

Well the big reward for going to school without grief is going to be skating on Sundays! I just threw this desert in yesterday because they went to school two days in a row LOL I wanted to show them I was happy about that.

Oh, that's sounds like fun.. I think that would have worked on my when I was a kid. We only went skating once a month in the winter and it wasn't enough for me..:)

Well a friend just called me and has movie tickets to see Alvin and the Chipmunk tomorrow... now I don't know what to do! LOL I think we'll still stick to skating though only because that's the incentive for school. I can't afford movie tickets every week!!

Some schools in our town have half days on friday it depends on the distric that you live in mine always have full days mon thru friday so I don't know the joy of half day. But I think that was a great treat for the kids for going to school!! How did they respond to the treat were they excited to get it ? How did the research on the TSS go for you! Is it an option? I wish you a happy and fun weekend and a stress free monday. How is the chart working? have a nice night.

Sorry I didn't get back to you on sunday to see how it went but my internet was down. So how did it go? Did you all have a great time? I would push for the TSS before talking to the psych. I don't think it should be to hard as long as you have a recomendation from the teacher and the school that it would be beneficial for the child at that point you don't have to wait for psych or a diagnoses. My son E didn't have a diagnoses when he was given a TSS. So keep up hope talk to the school principal and the teacher and see if you can get them to write you something on monday to give to what ever agency you want to get the TSS from .. So how did the chart go over and how did monday go over? Hope all went well. Did you decide on anything yet for a reward? Well hopefully there will be a great ahead with this. Take care and let me know how things go.

Yes they were quite excited... and this morning my daughter woke me up VERY early, COME ON MOM IT'S SUNDAY, TIME TO GO SKATING!!!! Sorry to disappoint the child but the rink only opens at 2! research on TSS: I've been told to wait to speak to psych. I have a feeling that it's going to go all to schnitz with it since 1. I don't have an official diagnosis 2. I only get half an hour to talk with this girl 3. school observation is STILL not done... oh I could probably list other reasons too. We all decided to keep the excitement of the chart starting monday morning. We've set it all up, explained the consequences and rewards (not that we've decided on any yet however I'm thinking of getting a reward jar) and now eagerly waiting for that stress free monday! OH Please Pray for us! LOL

I think I that is a good idea. I wish I would have thought of something like that when my oldest started school years ago. We had such a hard time with him going to school. But whatever it takes to get them to go and do well in my opinion.

I have so many struggles with the little one, I need to reward the positive.
